Navion
OK, I'm ALMOST sold on a Century of Progress. Haven't played it yet, but I found one, and I'm thinking seriously that the kid doesn't need to go to college all THAT bad... Has anyone heard anything yea or nay about these? I have to play it first, of course, but I know once I pick it up, if I like it, it's coming home. (Thank GOD I never got into drugs!) A few words of discouragement might not hurt. Hoss
I've seen two. Played one. It was very 'lively'- lots of sustain with nice, clear tones on all strings.
jefleppard
here's an historical site that describes it http://www.usd.edu/smm/PluckedStrings/Guitars/Gibson/10865/CenturyModelGuitar.html interesting history. i love the line "mother of toilet seat". i've seen elvis costello play one, but live you cant really tell in a band setting. i always thought of them as a bit of a stray cat but here's elvis (declan) playing one .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3S6AwRm-xqE he says in the official gibby vid that nick lowe played this guitar in this song.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jln3aDC2FnM
Space Pup
I recently played on of the new "Elvis Costello" models. It plays nice and has a clear tone but it's just not what I'm looking for.
TommyK
... A few words of discouragement might not hurt. Sending the kid to college might be the only way to get him / her out of your basement.... think about it. Your time is comin'. Be patient. Emptynesterhood is ALL it's cracked up to be.
