What Comes With A NEW Epiphone Guitar.

Epi1

Recommended Posts

Just to "chime in", My last three purchases from Musician's Friend were a Ltd. Edition G-400 Deluxe, a PR-150 acoustic, and a Ltd. Edition P93 Riviera. All of them came with all of the usual stuff except the SG came with a Musician's Friend sticker and The P93 came with an Epi sticker. (The acoustic didn't come with the cable of course). I've got tons of those posters with the Casino on them if anyone wants one. lol

I just got a Les Paul traditional Pro at Guitar Center last Saturday and all that was in the box was the warranty card. Didn't even get the strap locks that are supposed to come with it. Working on at least getting the locks.

The guitar was in a taped closed Epiphone box that I watched the salesman open. They can't find any Epi strap locks in the store. Is GC removing this stuff at a warehouse somewhere?

I got my SG from Musician's Friend, and didn't get the sticker, poster, or the manual. Maybe it's because I got it from a vendor and not straight from Gibson/Epiphone?

With that being said I've play quite a few new Epi's and haven't had any problems with them. All of them needed a good set up, but that's to be expected from a store bought guitar.

I noticed that GC does some really shady stuff sometimes with the pricing. Like when you buy an Epi and a Gibson, and basically any guitar that is suppose to come with a case. I noticed they list the case and price separately on the receipt. Hmmmm, I still dont get that. If the guitar comes with a case, should it not just be included in the price of the guitar, and left alone, instead of listing it separately. I think GC is being shady about that, and sneaking the price of the case in seperate from the price of the guitar. Thats not right. How can they do this and get away with it?

I bought an Epi AJ200VE model the other day, and found out it did not come with a case. The sales person at GC told me they did not have any Epi cases, but could give me an off brand case. I said I would wait. I kept the guitar on hold until the Epi case I ordered from MF came, then I went and took the Epi case to GC and picked up my guitar and brought it back home. GC does some wierd crap sometimes.

Just giving a shout-out to Inspector 24 Gabor and the rest of the gang whose work insured that my recently acquired Epiphone Dot arrived in playable condition with zero detected manufacturing defects.

Hey, mine was checked by "Gabor" too. I did get all the goodies mentioned - I bought it online from European reseller Thomann. I wrote them a message beforehand and they assured me I would get everything that Epiphone originally puts in the box. Sure, the cord is a cheap version, but it will do the job for a few weeks until I buy a really good one.

Save your cord - It's useless for plugging into an AMP, but is perfect for rolling up

in case pocket and uing with Korg tuner.

My DR-500MCE was inspected by Gabor.... It arrived on Saturday after a 5 month wait.... It's already spent 5 hours back in the shop getting set up and the plastic nut removed to be replaced with the bone nut it should have come with fitted...

Bought my first ever guitar, a Epi Les Paul Traditional Pro Korina, today from Guitar Center and got none of these items. [crying]

Same here. Bought Trad Pro Korina LP new at GC about a month ago. It didn't come with doodly, so the next day I took in my receipt back to GC and asked them for the usual tool and warranty card, like the Gibson LP that I bought earlier this year. At the guitar desk I was told that they don't come with anything anymore, but that they would be happy to print me a manual. I told them not to bother, because I would rather download it and keep it on my PC than keep up with another piece of paper. Anyway, the tool would have been nice.

I have no reason to doubt the sales guys there, but let's say that I was shorted a couple of low ticket items. The guitar is perfect, so in the whole scheme of things and IMHO, I'd rather have a well made guitar than return it and take my chances on getting another good one, that is if there are any left. I used the philips end of the Gibson truss rod tool to adjust the pickup height and have moved on. But judging by the other LP Trad Pro buyers posting in this thread, this model might be an exception to the list in the OP.

Hi. I was intrigued by your post. I am frustrated by the comments going around in this forum about the quality of Epiphone production.

The reason is that i'd like to get me a Gibson es355 but cant afford it.

I saw the Epiphone has relased it and thought it might be a good compromise??!! But that's the thing.

The phrase Value For Money sometimes worries me terribly.

I own a Gibson Les Paul and none of the Epihone i have tried matched it in quality. I am scared to buy an Epiphone thinking that oh well, for that money it is a damn good guitar. But is it a good guitar or is it good for that price? i dont know if i am beeing clear.

Would it make more sense to spend a little more and get me a Midtown Standard Bigsby?

Besides all the considerations behind the Bigsby, at my age (i am forty) with guitars and Motorbikes i have decided that I cannot let my decisions be totally rational, i must LOVE what i purchase and looks play their part too.

Epiphones are good guitars. In my opinion for the price, they are a great deal .But you cannot seriously expect an Epi Standard which sells for $399, for example, to be the same quality as a Gibson LP Standard costing $2499. Now is that Gibson worth 6 times the price of the Epiphone version? For myself, and for my needs, the answer is a resounding NO.

Only you can decide what you want and need out of a guitar. If you already have preconceived ideas that Epis are not good guitars, or not good enough for you, then spend your money elsewhere because you will always feel the guitar is not good enough, no matter how good it really is.

Heya Epi 1,

I have 3 of the best Epiphones I've ever played and I was quite irritated when I then had to go out and purchase a hardcase seperately.

Bloody hell, $1500 for my Black Beauty 3 and then $180 for HC, $900 for my G400 LTD and $140 for HC, $799 for my Explorer then $140 for HC. S@#t!!! [cursing][angry]

For guitars of that quality, price and being at the upper end of the range, I would expect the hardcase to be included in the sale.

Forget stickers, crappy cords and posters. A hardcase, Truss rod/allen key wrench and a Certificate of Authenticity is what's required.

C'man man, stick with the necessities.

Sincerely

Paul

Surprised at no mention of Coil-Tapping in new models? I bought my Alpine White Les Paul Custom from zzSounds, came w/ Signature case, all paperwork, sticker, and "cable". Was set up almost perfect, but to my surprise, on the volume pots were 2 cut out circles stating Coil-Tapping Equipped! Was very surprised that only a few of these were showing up on other forums. Sweetwater is were I do most of buying, being I live in Indiana, but got same guitar, at lower cost-with Sig. case and the Coil-Tapping, was I just lucky, or is this not "standard", because mentioned nowhere in description of such an option. Just confused, but not complaining by any means, no pick up swapping here, she screams, or she can be mellow-yellow! Some people should be curious as to what all this means, just thought I would bring it to notice. Still love Sweetwater, but w/ a case, all documentation, and Coil-Tapping!, for less from zzSounds, some of you might want to check them out, have payment options, and very curtious customer service, as I was curious about the Coil-Tapping. I'm sorry long and sloppy, just something I was curious about, and others may be as well. Couldn't be happier with Epi, and will never overpay for a guitar, you just have to play a few, and the guitar will pick you! Thanks for a wonderful product!

I'm currently saving my pennies up for a Sheraton II. I have read of folks getting hardcases when they buy them. Is this still a common practice, or is it a gigbag? Thanks in advance, it won't deter me buying the guitar, just need to know as I'm going to have to dig a little deeper for a case if not.

There have been a lot of questions recently from our customers asking “what comes with a new Epiphone guitar?” Here’s a list of what should be included when you purchase a new Epiphone instrument. If you do not receive these items, please ask your authorized Epiphone retailer about them.

1. User’s Manual – This covers all the basic information about the care and use of our guitars.

2. Warranty Information – This is included in with the User’s Manual. You can fill out the form and send it in to us by mail. But… it’s faster and easier to do it on-line HERE.

3. 10’ Economy Cord – This comes with all electric and acoustic/electric instruments.

4. Epiphone Bumper Sticker

5. Epiphone 2-Sided Poster

6. eSonic/eSonic-2 User’s Manual – This goes into details regarding the features, benefits and use of our preamp system that is used in most of our acoustic/electric guitars. This comes with only acoustic/electric guitars.

7. Truss Rod Adjustment Wrench – Remember… if you don’t know how to adjust your truss rod, don’t attempt it. You could do permanent damage to your instrument. If you think an adjustment is needed, take it to an authorized service center.

Additionally, some of our guitars are priced including hard case or gigbag. Here’s a quick list of our current price list models that include cases.

• Inspired by John Lennon Casino (‘1965” and “Revolution”): Hard Case

• SG-Express : Gigbag

• Emily the Strange G-310: Gigbag (and strap)

• Zakk Wylde ZV Custom: Hard Case

• LP-Express: Gigbag

• Les Paul “Tribute”: Hard Case

• All “Packs”: Gigbag

*Note: All hard cases include a locking latch with key.

Couldn't help but notice that you didn't mention that the guitars in the Prophecy series comes with a hard case
