What Comes With A NEW Epiphone Guitar.

Yeah, they'd be great emergency cables too.

Thats alot of stuff in your cases, man. But I'll admit that I keep much of the same stuff in just one case that I gig with. Strings, strap, batteries, screwdriver, string winder, etc. The whole nine yards. I also have a case just for extra stuff to take long.

 

Speaking more on cables, our guitar player uses some thin little coiled cord from his git to his tuner (It looks like a headphone extension or something) and a Monster cable from the tuner to the amp. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a high-end cord at all, really.

Looks like i got everything i was supposed to get when i

purchased my NEW LUCILLE.

 

IF i was Epi, i'd post a link HERE at THIS FORUM so the members

could get ADDITIONAL FREE (post paid) "Epiphone" window/bumper

stickers.

 

A sort of... PERK for the active members....

 

makes sense to me....

 

That is the sunday school gospel truth, that is what i'd do.

I've received all the aforementioned swag (except the legendary and elusive bumper sticker) on the P93, LP Special, and IBJL Casino I bought new from Musician's Friend.

 

I bought an amp and drum machine from Sweetwater and it was an A+ customer experience. I'd love to buy guitars from Sweetwater - their customer service is superb - but MF runs those occaisional 15% off deals (including used and returns) that make it impossible to resist.

 

MF is the Amazon of on-line guitar stores and GC is the Wal-Mart.

 

(Except Midi's LV store, that one is the exception!)

Hopefully I'm not too off-topic here but my 15 year old daughter has been playing for 15 months on a 3/4 size Ibanez and wants to upgrade to an Epi LP or G400. We do frequent Guitar Center and I have had generally good experiences with them but I would like to see her get everything Epiphone intended -- this may be a bigger deal to a kid than an adult. Anyway, any opinions about Sweetwater.com for new guitars? They claim to do a thorough check of the guitars they send out to customers.

 

I know it's kinda late to respond to this, but I bought my Les Paul Ultra from Sweetwater, and got all the goodies in the package. You're right. Those kinds of things do mean a lot to kids.

 

I got my Pirates SG from Musician's Friend, and got the goods with it, as well. I bought a G-310, and LP Jr. at a local music store, and didn't get the goods, but they did give me their own version of the cheap cable, and they carefully checked the instruments and made adjustments as necessary, at no extra charge.

 

The same store set up my Pirates SG for free, although I made it clear that I bought it online and fully expected to pay. I had them fix the intonation and pickup height on my Les Paul, after I screwed it up. That cost me all of $10, but I gave the guy a twenty and told him to keep the change.

 

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that if you're fortunate enough to have a good, independently owned local music store, that gives you excellent service with a smile, you might think twice about complaining when you don't get your sticker and poster. They'll remember you as a friendly customer, and you'll remember them as being very helpful all the way through the purchase, and even offering (and providing) service after the sale.

 

Later, I went in there, "just browsing", and couldn't leave without shelling out a small fortune for a top of the line Schecter C1 Elite.

 

Hell, I'm sure I could walk into that store any time and ask for Epiphone stickers or posters, and they'd give 'em to me.

 

The only reason I bought the Les Paul Ultra online was because no one had one locally. The SG was because I was able to get a somewhat unique G-400 "Custom Shop" guitar for $350, new in the box. I actually ended up getting it for $250, because I noticed the price dropped the next day, and I asked them to honor that price for my purchase of less than 15 hours earlier.

 

There are pros and cons to everything. I really like the people at my favorite local music store. I also really like being able to get awesome prices and free shipping from the big online retailers.

 

When I get home, I'm going to my favorite local music store to have a look at some Epiphone Dots and Casinos. I think I'm about ready for some sweet semi-hollow body tone, and I really want to see and handle the guitar that I buy this time.

Well, yeah. Where do you think those stickers and posters came from? From your G-310 and LP Jr, thats where.[laugh] I'm just funning you, but its true.

 

Seriously though, has anyone equated the fact that as trivial as it may be, when the guitar stores take the Epiphone goodies they are actually stealing from you.

I just got my brand new IBJL Casino today from Sweetwater and it came with all of the goodies.

Sure it is a cheap cable, but it is most surely better than nothing.

Gotta love the poster and bumper sticker too.

plus they properly set it up the first time too !

Hmmmm...

 

I guess I'd best check the "economy cable" plastic bag for the torsion rod tool. I have a few cables laying around. <grin>

 

For what it's worth, I just got a new dot some five-six hours off the truck. I s'pose I can find something "wrong" with it if I look hard enough, but frankly it's been too much fun playing it. Nice action although I may lower it just a tad after a week of messing with it.

 

I could care less about most except that tool. The guitar's only weakness is one of the control knobs that's a bit lower than the others.

 

Frankly if something like this had been available in the 1970s, I'd still be playing the thing. Price for price it seems to me to be an incredible deal when I compare prices with what they were "back then."

 

Maybe it's just old age talking, but for what it's worth, the "inexpensive to mid-range" guitars I've seen the past decade beat the socks off what was available in the 1960s. I know it's apparently "in" to be hypercritical, and yeah, if I have a problem with the new Epi I'll holler. But I don't expect a problem.

 

Also, I wonder if the fact I got mine basically just off the delivery truck to a store if it weren't less affected by in-store messing by those who shouldn't have.

All my Epi's came with an equal to or better gift for mrs marker....it's the price I have

to pay for domestic tranquility and new axes....

Coming late to this thread but I am a new customer of Epiphone guitars. I just purchased an EJ-200CE/N acoustic electric from a Sam Ash retail store. The guitar was hanging on the wall and I simply took it down, played it without an amp and liked it. I purchased the guitar as a gift for my son who is interested in learning to play. I understood the guitar did not come with a case and they did not have the Epiphone "signature" case for it so I just bought a Gator hardcase. I must confess I did not pay a lot of attention to what went in the case because we were also buying other things like a strap, capo, tuner, plus drum stuff for me. When I got home, I discovered there was nothing in the case at all. There is no manual for anything, no cord, no truss rod wrench, nothing. Now granted, in the grand scheme of things, this doesn't amount to much and is more a reflection of my own personality that I actually would like to have those things. I'm one of those people that saves the window sticker from new vehicles. It would be nice if there were a way to simply order this from Epiphone directly because my call to the Sam Ash store left me less than satisfied. I got the response I expected so I wasn't surprised that they simply said to register it online and thankfully, I was able to find resources here so I could see how the eSonic2 works. Still, I would like to be able to have the hardcopy items that I'm sure the Sam Ash people probably lost, misplaced or stole when the guitar was unboxed. I take this as a learning experience and they will probably lose business from me because of this. I will give it one more shot though and attempt to contact the specific salesman that helped me and see how he responds. No satisfactory response and when I buy the Ultra II or whatever else, I can just as easily take my business on-line which sadly, seems to give better service these days.

Just bought a SG G-400 from the local Arts music shop in Newmarket Ontario, and nothing came with it at all.

Not even a box, well they gave me a box from a squire so I could get it out to the car in the rain.

 

Did not know anything "extra" was supposed to come with it.

 

Oddly the SG still had all the plastic wrap on the pick guard and pickups, but when I just checked up on its serial number it says was made in 2008/12 so must have been hanging around their shop for a very long time.

 

Maybe I should have gone to the BiG city and hit a major Canadian music chain store like Long&McQuade to get one with whatever it is supposed to come with.

With all the moaning in favor of various sorts of retail stores, I think today's retail environment ain't what it used to was. That last sentence may not be grammatical, but I think it expresses a truth.

As far as I'm concerned, it's an added benefit to have somebody else get rid of all that stuff instead of me sifting through it, storing it for a while, then finding the file folder containing it two years from now and wondering why I bothered to save it. Yeah, I'm kinda old, but I would rather not use the tools which come with a guitar, a motorcycle, a car, a power tool, or just about anything else if I can get a much higher quality tool for a nominal price.

I'm about as far from being a babe in arms as anyone on the forums and I rather appreciated getting the little tool set and other stuff even though yeah, it's largely for kids.

 

The point I think some of the guys are making, though, is that the stores that don't give you what came with the guitar are functionally stealing from the total cost/value of the package. If they do that, it says something about the integrity of the store and/or its staff.

 

That is, I guess, what bothers me. I've seen at least one Epi second sold as a "first," we've talked on the forums about problem guitars being put back up on the wall as "new," etc., etc. To me it all starts, and is reflected by, the store that doesn't give you what came with the guitar. In some cases that even includes the stuff you and I may never use like a low-quality cord and strap, or stuff we may want such as a gig bag or hard case. So... a $1,000 guitar where you don't get the hard case, strap and cord and wrench set may only be giving you functionally the value of $800 at retail.

Personally, I don't want the stickers and all the other goodies to be to included with the sale. The bottom line is everything that's added in the package has an additional cost and that cost is built into the purchase price (nothing is for free) and the consumer pays for it whether he/she gets the items when the guitar is procured is a whole different issue. ](*,)

 

I'd rather have better ROI (Return on Investment). Remove the welcome aboard syllabus, sticker, and cord. IMHO, these are used placate the customer with a WOW factor. Reduce overhead cost by only including what is necessary, for example a warranty card and instructions. Take the difference you save and put it into R&D to enhance product quality or invest in capitol expenditures. :-({|=

When I got my most beloved, and trusted Blue Bomber from Musician's Friend, I received a cable, wrench, manual, Q.C. slip. No poster (didn't care), no bumper sticker (again, didn't care). What I DID care about was the fact that I received an AWESOME guitar that needed little in setup initially. Granted, I DID modify the hell out of it, not because it needed it, but because I wanted to...I wanted a unique guitar. GOD I miss that guitar. [sad]

I just got my first guitar, an LP-100. I bought it and some accessories online and saw that the guitar and amp were going to arrive one day before my monster cable cord. I was sick thinking there was a chance I would have to stare at my new guitar waiting on a cable. I quickly emailed customer support hoping for a fast answer. If no cord was included I was going to get one somewhere that day. Then I found this forum/thread and read that an economy cable was included. Sure enough the guitar came with the cord, sticker, poster, everything.

 

Two days later my response from customer support arrived and they assured me no cable was included with the LP-100?!?!

Even my wee little baby SG Express came with all the goodies in the box. Wrench, sticker, poster, cable, instructions, and even the European "don't throw this in the trash" card.

 

I don't need any of that stuff, but I ain't complainin', that's for sure.
