My mistake, it's actually an EA-255 - Casino. Yes it's exactly like the one in the picture (although the pictured guitar is not mine!)

Hi Chaps,

and welcome here.

What is a Casino ES-255 ?

The guit in your avatar ?

Pics would help......

I might as well add mine here now that I have a keeper. Epiphone by Gibson ES335 Terada Factory 1999 - 'identical' to the Orville by Gibsons to 1998 with the possible exception of some electronics. . . and the label of course.

Serial Number J904146

I have an Epi Zephyr Regent. Serial number begins with R98M , followed by the sequence number. The decoder says Peerless, December 1998. But 'M' is the 13th letter of the alphabet, not the 12th. I would think December would be an 'L', not an 'M'.

Anyone have an explanation for this ?

Thanks

There's 13 months in Korea, one for each Zodiac sign!!!

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, the letter I is skipped so it's not confused with 1 or L.

Alrighty, I can buy that. Leave the letter 'I' out of the sequence. However I also see another post in here where someone has a 'P' in their serial number (ie R99P or something like that). That's a bit mysterious too.

Anyhow, thank you.

No, if you bought it from an official Epiphone dealer, there should be no problem with fakes.

Hi, So I'm a Noob and just got a Gibson Epiphone Flying V it's completely trashed, but that makes it look pretty good actually.

Problem is, the serial # is only partialy showing! or is it? What I can read is 9042630

After reading a lot about these Serials, Me thinks it's a Japanese, Orville (Korean made) 1989 model. What do you think?

The whole thing is made out of one piece.

Hi everyone!

I've been looking around for a while now, and can't really find how to decode the 7-digits-serial on my turquoise-sunburst Epiphone Les Paul.

The serial is F6060630, and GuitarDaterProject says it was made in '96 in Fine Guitars, Korea. But I really doubt it : the neck binding is cracked all the way long, as on vintage guitars (i've had guitars from '95, and they never chracked this way). The seller told me it's from the early 80's, maybe even earlier.

It's a limited edition, so it should be easy to find... (but isn't)

Help anyone? :D

Thank you Pete!

I find the binding crack pretty surprizing, for a guitar so recent. Is it usual on other Epi LP?

I was hoping so hard it would be older! :'( I just have to find out how much it costs, before buying it.

BTW, sorry I'm pretty sure it's not the right thread, but didn't find it :

Where can I find how much this guitar would cost? The seller asks $820 for it. Is that honnest, bargain, theft?

Hi,

I don't think the serial is missing something.

To my knowledge it is April '89 made in Korea, probably at the Samick plant

No Letter prefix doesn't mean it's Japan made....

The serial stickers look exactly like the ones on the "Epiphone by Gibson" models

which were produced at the same time-range

http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/49639-epiphone-by-gibson-headstock-sheraton-owners-club/page__st__20

^^ see post #32 and #51 ^^

Others might correct me....

Wow!!! Awesome!!! 1989! That is pretty BRUTAL! It was deadsmack in the middle of some real good Thrash Metal years.

Then I was pretty close with my guesstimate. I thought it to be Korean also. I read somewhere that most Japanese models were Korean made.

Do you think you could say something about her value? She'll be going to a doctor soon for a complete modern day revitalizing hardware upgrade. No face lift I think she's real sexy looking like this.

Many thanks on the info. \m/

'96 is right.

There was not any Epi LesPaul made in Korea in the "early 80s"

Hi, do you know what this colour is called? It's different from Blueburst or Trans Blue, as the center is turquoise...

BTW, I didn't find a history of all limited series made by Epiphone. Any idea where I could find that?

Thanks!

could use a little help. I have a Epihpone that was given to me by a family member. I have no clue what model it is, other than it being a Epiphone. The neck plate on the back of the guitar has CI97118562 or it could be CL97118562. I've attached a pic of the plate. any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry that my first post on the forum is about this issue but I've been willing to get myself an Epiphone for a long time before they discontinued the Zakk Wylde Buzzsaw Les Paul model. Finally, a couple days ago I stumbled upon an ad on OLX Ireland for this model and asked for some pictures of it. I can't decide if it's a counterfeit or a real one and even Guitar Dater Project is clueless about it.

The serial number seems like 00503120 or O0503120. I'll try adding some pictures too. I'm kind of in a hurry to decide before I go back to my country on buying it. So I'd appreciate big time any help!

Thanks in advance!

This is an attempt to get "control" about the first post,

as suggested by Steven Lister and in agreement with Duane

If it begins with an O, it is indeed the referance of a Korean factory yet as you pointed out even in this case the rest of the serial # seems odd. I'm really confused :(

Stay away !

It seems to be a fake !

At least I've never seen a serial# like this....

someone wanted to make it look like a Gibson serial [thumbdn]

Hello again everybody!

I'm writing to you in a big emergency! If I want to buy this guitar I have to move in less than 2 days or it's going to someone else :'(

I found this new ad on a Polish website and it's looking much more decent but I need your help to confirm its originality. It's once again an Epiphone ZW Buzzsaw model :^)

I can't thank you enough for saving me from a big scam last time!!!

Thanks already for all answers!

P.S.: Because of my upload quota I can only add 2 pictures but I've got more here:

Flickr Page

The serial should not be pressed into the wood, IMO

It should look like this one, it's a camo, but youn get it

http://www.sweetwater.com/guitargallery/electric/all/s1008210283/

It is also missing the Zakk image on the back of the headstock.

Hello again to everyone guys! ^_^

As you would notice, the time for me to disturb everyone once again to check the authenticity of another Buzzsaw model came already. Our most recent contestant joins us from UK and has a knob dropped-off. Its owner is a guitarist in a band called Unit Nine and the ad was found on Gumtree.

Here's the link to the pictures that I've received from him yet but I already asked for more ;)

My link

Thanks once again in advance for all replies!

P.S.: I really hope that this one would not be a fake and that I'd get it in order to stop finally boring everyone again and again with questions about the same model all the time [tongue]

Hi all.

Could I get some help identifying where my new axe came from? The serial number is F302495. I am a little confused, as I read one post that said the 1959 issue was made in Japan, it also has a "Limited Edition - Epiphone - Custom Shop" printed on the back of the head. The fact the serial starts with F suggests it may be Japanese made, but it does have a made in China sticker on it.

post-31680-066646100 1300261356_thumb.jpgpost-31680-085198700 1300261435_thumb.jpgpost-31680-090785400 1300261475_thumb.jpg

If anyone could shed some light for me? I'd like some peace of mind that it is not fake, although I bought it from a fairly reputable shop. I'd also like to know how they stack up against the LP Standard Plus normal model.

Cheers [cool]

Regards,

TJ
