Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro

Last week I bought my 6th Epi,a Les Paul Traditional Pro and I must say it's a truly amazing guitar. The neck pickup has the real PAF sound that's so much like the original it's uncanny.I tried it through a Fender Blues Jr. and it nailed the tone that Robert Fripp got from his Les Paul on the first King Crimson album. The bridge pickup could cut through granite it has that much crunch and punch,it sounds incredible through my old JCM 800 and with both pickups engaged you can get such a great jazzy sound by just rolling off the tone controls a tad.In the single coil mode she sounds more like a cross between a Mustang and a Jaguar than a Strat-like chime but that's not a bad thing as Mustangs and Jags are fine guitars too.The finish and playability is sublime and the neck although a bit chunky is very comfortable even with my small hands. This may very well be the most versatile guitar on the market today and certainly is head and shoulders above anything in its price range and is even better than a lot of others costing hundreds more.

Hi Bonzoboy,

Thanks for the post and your participation in the forum. I'm very happy to hear you love your new Epi Traditional PRO. We developed our new line of ProBucker pickups for the Traditional Pro but have since started adding them to other models as well. Here's a brief news story about the pickups. Yours are of course open-coil humbuckers but the materials and design are the same otherwise. See HERE.

Thanks again,

Jim Epi

Thanks for the reply Jim.My love affair with Epiphones started in 2008 when my wife gave me a G-400 Custom for Christmas. In the spring of 2009 I saw a natural Casino and being a Beatle fanatic I had to have it.On my way to the checkout I saw an EJ-160E John Lennon and that came home with me too.At the same time the store owner told me there was a John Lennon Casino so I ordered one on the spot and about a week later the '65 John Lennon Casino No.49 arrived. For Christmas of '09 my wife gave me a beautiful '06 Custom Shop Limited Edition sunburst Firebird that also blew me away when I tried it.Now I have No. 6 the Trad. Pro.I have come to love the Epiphone brand as for the money they far outclass and outperform most guitars costing much more.Whenever someone asks me to recommend a good guitar I immediately tell them to try Epiphone as I know they won't be disappointed.I am hooked on Epis now and I'm seriously eyeing the Hummingbird and the Dove and the EJ200 ,so one of them will no doubt No.7.

I just purchased my epi. Les Paul trad. Pro 2 days ago and I so agree, it plays so nice and the sounds I can get with it through my vypyr vip is amazing. Totally blows away my strat I just got rid of even tho the strat was sweet my trad. Pro is in the top 3 of any guitar I have owned and there's been quite a few in the last 44 yrs I have owned and played. On a side note anyone verify if the trad pros are now discontinued, I know this one was made Dec of 2012
