If you don't know what a "partial barre with G to C shape" is, that's OK, because by the end of this lesson you'll definitely be familiar with this lick. In fact, you may already be familiar with it and not even know it!

As Arlen Roth will show you in this exclusive lesson from Gibson Lifestyle, the "partial barre" lick is easily one of the most useful and melodic positions that any guitar player can use, combining both rhythm and melodic passages to form the technique. In this lesson, Roth demonstrates how to "roll" the strings and use hammer-ons and pull-offs to really bring this technique to life. He also shows how the partial barre is really just a closed version of the very popular open position in G, which he also demonstrates in the lesson.

Roth also advises to listen to the music of noted guitarists Mark Knopfler and Keith Richards in order to really understand and recognize these unique positions.
