sneakerpimp
an '82 Firebrand "The SG" Deluxe. it came all original w/ "chainsaw" HSC. i have since added used period-correct Grover tulip tuners and bridge from a mid-80s Les Paul and relic'd knob pointers. i got this back in november and have posted pics on other threads and thought i should have my own thread :)

BigKahune
A very cool SG indeed. It looks in great shape - and so bada$$ in ebony! I've only seen them in natural finishes so I had to check - http://www.everythingsg.com/index.php/firebrand.html - yep, there were factory colors. Great job with the mods you chose. They really add some extra mojo to the look. Congrats
sneakerpimp
Me too, it looks great in black! Nice SG! I like that bridge too, who makes that? Schaller? thanks guys. the bridge appears to be a Schaller as there is a Made In Germany stamp on the back. i also had a '79 walnut one that i sold 12 years ago and in my recent quest for another one found out they came painted too--much nicer! Until I read your post that the pointers are relic'd I was thinking "man for as good as the finish looks they sure as hell didn't take care of the pointers" haha. Very sharp. That case looks indestructible.

Very sharp. That case looks indestructible. yeah, whoever relic'd the pointers 'overcooked' them, they literally look like they came from the bottom of the ocean. but all the screwheads are rusted and any unchromed bits are anodized badly so that's okay. knobs have yellowed very nicely. only the intact paint and chrome shine, and that they do. the case does look indestructible, i just wish you could somehow lock it... no combo lock, no loop. EVOL!
That is a killer guitar. Not a big fan of open coil pickups, but those look sweet.
Twiz
Yowza. That's a hot SG. Was that re-finished, or is that the original finish?

Twiz
yep, original finish. thanks again for the kind words fellas. My bad. I missed the first two times you said that it's the original finish in this thread. Oops. Anyhoo, I think I like the black finish better than the usual walnut finish I usually see those in. And zebra pups, don't get me started on zebra pups. They're the coolest.

sneakerpimp
What polish do you ude on your SG Firebrand? gibson polish or mild soap water if it's absolutely filthy. for touch up on finger prints just a t-shirt and a breath or two for moisture. rub in direction of the grain to avoid swirl marks.
