Some of you may already know this, but there is now a new Epiphone Wiki...and its not EpiWiki. Just to clear up any questions about its relation to the now defunct EpiWiki; there is none. There is no forum, no 'main site', no mass exodus, no nothing, Just a Wiki consisting of Epiphone guitars.

This project was started to fill the void left behind with the EpiWiki's departure from the internet. Many people, as well as myself, felt that it was the beginning of a valuable resource for Epiphone guitar info and were very disappointed when it was taken down. After pondering the idea for several months, and upon realizing that it wasnt coming back, I decided, with the help of Sjael, to start a new Wiki to help identify and compare Epiphone guitars.

As it stands, the Epiphone Wiki is still incomplete and is a work in progress. There are also some corrections that need to be made, like the Elite/Elitist sections for example (thanks Peter!).

As far as info obtained from the EpiWiki, it is minimal. A very small percentage of the Epiphone Wiki was taken from the original Epiwiki. Most of the info came from Epiphone, Gibson, VintageGuitars.co.uk, and Blue Book, and a few other random sources including this forum. EpiWiki's info was also gleaned from some of these sources.

Currently, I am taking a hiatus from the wiki, as we just bought a house and have much to do. Not to mention that my basement flooded the other night and we cant set up the computers until the drains get snaked and the floor dries. After things settle down a bit, I will resume work on the wiki and add the missing guitar sections and make corrections.

If anyone sees any corrections that need to be made or would like to contribute info, feel free to message me if my inbox isnt full. Haha! Its full right now. But you can always leave a message in my profile. I'll clear it out soon. I promise! I fear that if I dont, Animal Farm might make me the punchline for one of his photoshops! [biggrin]

There you have it! A new wiki for Epiphone guitar info. The Strat and E-Series guides will remain even though they mirror some information. Eventually I may expand the wiki to parts and accessories, but I want to focus on just guitars for now.

Enjoy!

Feeble DIY thread? Hardly. That thread is the best and easiest to find resource on the forum. Not everyone gets their own sticky!

I just hope the wiki doesnt take all the fun out of identifying guitars! [scared]

I've got an even better suggestion than my free guitars for AF, RTH, and Sjael post. Why don't we(you, EPI1, whoever) just let them run this whole site. It's ridiculous that all of us have to put up with this random lag time and forum crashes every 3 days.

Totally awesome RTH, many thanks to you and Sjael for your hard work.

And THANK YOU for listing the correct provenance of the Genesis line.

We need an Epi Hall of Fame around here....

Thanks again guys! Like I said, much info came from this forum so all of you had a part in the wiki too. This isnt just my wiki or Sjael's wiki. This wiki is all of ours.

Supersonic - I think I'd rather have the guitar than run a forum. [biggrin] With as many people that log into this site, crashing and lag is inevitable. The only thing I'd do differently at this point would be to not host it through the Amazon cloud and instead rent a dedicated server through a major host. But really, if there is one thing I would like from Epiphone regarding the wiki, it would be actual factual information and stock pics for all of the guitars.

Brian - like I had said awhile back, I dont want to spread the disinformation any further. Thanks for letting me pick your brain about the Genesis. [thumbup]

Also, for the record and as the wiki stands, the Elite/Elitist info is somewhat misleading and sort of incorrect. it can be confusing due to the different names and headstocks. The Elite category should be "Elite/Elitist Japan" and the Elitist category should just be "Elite/Elitist" (thanks again, Pete!). There was also a Les Paul Elite, IIRC, that had nothing to do with the Elite/Elitists. That is another guitar that needs to be added to the wiki. I'll get to these soon.

And again, if anyone has info they wanrt to share for the wiki, leave me a message in my profile. I'll clear out my inbox this week.

We finished last night at about 8pm. My wife is doing a walk-through with our landlord this afternoon and then we'll be officially done with the rental house except for paying the remainder of the bills. Its been a long week.

No way. I'll be recharged and ready to go this evening. Besides, I have to hook up the stove and washing machine tonight. I also have to get the bikes in the basement tonight because we dont have a lock on the garage yet. I think after those things I'll just chill out a little though. The baby has been out of sorts lately because I havent had much time to spend with him. So thats at the top of my priorities this evening after the appliances and bikes.
