frenchie1281734003
i saw it and just had to have it. i was actually looking for an elitist but when i saw this it blew me away and for about the same money as a used elitist. I think you`ve done well there WellerCasino, I have owned three Matsumoku made Casino`s in the past, and they are great playing guitars with a really nice neck profile, in some ways I prefer them to the Lennon 65 re-issue I have now. Enjoy Steve.

Enjoy Steve. I will give a full description of the guitar when I get it. From a desirabilty point of view it is top drawer because of the laquer finish and the sunburst which is much closer to the original issue guitars than the tan label models. Also the authorised by Gibson sticker is a nice touch. If anyone has any comments or questions I would be happy to hear them and hopefully answer them. Adrian I`m not too sure about it having a lacquer finish though. It looks very similar to the ones I owned, and they had a thin poly finish. The binding cracks that can be seen in the photo`s are similar to those found on Ibanez guitars from the 70s/80s, and they were also poly finished. Heres my old 80`s Matsumoku Casino`s:- Keep us informed. Steve.
vomer
well you have now because i bought it Nice score wellercasino. And welcome- what a great way to join the forum! Please don't misunderstand my comment; I was agreeing with johnnyg that the EA250 is not in the same league as your new baby, and that those of us who own EA250's (me!) don't rate them very highly. I just sold a mint one, a 1988, to fund this casino and was suprised just how much i got for it. it was a great guitar and i had it for 18 years but just could not love it like you should with a special guitar. clarkuss
Congratulations! I came very close to owning a few Matsumoku Casinos in the past but my guitar priorities changed and I had to prevent myself from buying anymore Casinos. I had 3 at the time. Please make sure you post up some pictures and a good review.

Please make sure you post up some pictures and a good review. Well the Casino has arrived and is better than i ever imagined. The look, feel and sound is absolutely amazing. I really cant describe in words how good it is. I will try and post some pics soon but the ones on here are spot on but to be honest it looks even better in real life. If anyone wants to know anything about it just ask. Adrian.
wellercasino
Just browsing eBay tonight and I came across this 70's MIJ Casino. It's not the usual bolt on EA250 type but it's very similar to the Korean/Chinese ones. Because it's from Japan I thought it was a fake but I'm not sure. It seems to have a laquer sunburst finish (with checking)/fixed neck etc and it's marked on the back of the neck "Nihon Gibson". I believe Nihon is another form of Nippon. Serial number is 101066. Here's a couple of the pix and there's more here > http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Epiphone-Vintage-Blue-label-70-Casino-VS-w-HC-Japan-/110696222408?pt=Guitar&hash=item19c6024ec8 I've never seen or even heard of these. So what do you think? Hi jonnyg after reading your comments to Gibsonsg76 about my casino i thought i would look at this old post to remind me just how good it is lol in my opinion it is the nicest japanese casino i have ever seen but i am biased i suppose. wellercasino
It's fantastic to be honest and has surpassed what I was expecting. When I got it I had it set up and fettled by a professional luthier and even he said what a beautiful guitar it is. I will take some photos sometime. I spend many hours just looking at it let alone playing it. I feel very lucky to have it as the word rare is an understatement. Thanks for the enquiry

Parabar
I mean, I know there are people who love the 70's Epi's like the EA250 ... Yeah, and there's people who love Ford Pintos, Yugos, and AMC Pacers too. Still doesn't make 'em any good!

wellercasino
Well, to the people that love them they must be, LOL. i think the ea250 is ok for the beginner or for the collector but they are not really a players guitar. they are still better than a lot of the early jap stuff i suppose

There are a few differences between this and the earlier blue label model. It's a nice guitar and and a good price too.
jonnyg
here is another current ebay/japanese 1983 casino; interesting finish: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1983-Epiphone-Casino-Matsumoku-made-Japan-MIJ-/160698693651?pt=Guitar&hash=item256a637813 I know you got '83 from the eBay ad but it's actually an '81. Matsumoku export serials for that period are first digit = year / second two digits = month. So, 1120856 is December 1981.
