Thundergod
Hi guys... just wantedto know your opinions (theard's title should be taken inn the good way, like saying "Custom Shop Guitars are the sh_t!!!")... Looking back a couple of months, everybody seemed to leave for other forums looking for a pub, things werent as we wished them to be around here: bans, post deletings, and such.... I have to ask myself, who is responsible for the forum's 180 degree change? I have been a member here since the forum started and was a member of the old forum, just for 3 months before it got revamped into this one.. and as long as I have liked it since the beginning, there was something it lacked... and we asked for it a thousand times to no avail. Now I dont know if it was just a coincidence: they listened and delivered just at the same time this character made his entrance; or if he had something to do with it (which I am more inclined to believe)... but I think we should thank Mike for the direction the forum took some weeks ago... I was frequenting other forums but have not been very active there since this forum changed (haven't gone back to MLP and have checked GT only twice...). I was going to start a poll about this... but I know the general consensus will be "YES"... so, is it just my opinion, or is Mike the best that could happen to this forum? Thanks Mike for listening to our "demands" and improving this site. And thanks to the forum members for sticking around (and comming back, in some cases) you guys are the sh_t too! daveinspain
Yes it was Mike who made the changes.... +1 on everything Thunder said!
Wolff
Mike rules. I would like to point out that it was Dave and I who originally requested a General Discussion section. What we need now is a thread for guitar porn that is permanently pinned in the General section. Something along the lines of : "Post pics of your gear/Guitar Porn" or similar. I'd bet it's the first place forum newbies would go in order to check out the competition. We'll all enjoy it. There is a photos thread buried somewhere in the Les Paul section but we need something pinned so its always at the top. My 3 cents....
Tim Plains
I think Tim is actually the best thing that could have happened to this forum. Not trying to take anything away from the guy, but Mike is an employee within the Gibson corporation. Really, we should be thanking everybody that runs this forum through Mike, as well as Mike himself. Mike, be honest now..is this Gibson Lounge the real reason behind the recent price hike? Actually Wolff the subject of a lounge had come up many many times.... In this forum and the old one, I think Gibson didn't want to have a free for all because they didn't have any full time person to keep an eye on it. All they had were some moderators during the work week. Enter Mike, a dedicated internet pro, guitar buff and cool guy... Right off the bat he got everyone on his side with his introduction... I was impressed any way!!
Wolff
Fair enough Dave. I forfeit any credit. Mike is da man!

Thermionik
I recall JimeJ and harmonicchaos calling for a "General Discussion" area back in January this year. I recall a few folk wanting an "Off Topic" or "Lounge" section too, like ********, flyingarmadillo, Tim, FennRx, racha87, rjay777, guitarstrummer, jessenoah, cunkhead..... even me. So I gues - YES, Mike@Gibson IS the sh_t. I also have severe envy pangs at his collection too.

daveinspain
I also have severe envy pangs at his collection too. Did I miss a thread where Mike showed his guitar collection??? Hey Mike, could you please repost the thread or give me a link to see your collection???
ChanMan
Not just the lounge.... he is unifying the entire forum with his Intro section... so we get to know each other across guitar models. He added the recording section... I am tellin' ya folks... this ain't his first rodeo... Mike has "a clue". Maybe two or three....

Taylor Player
+1 on Mike being a great new addition to the forum! When I see his signature line and all of his autographed guitars, it makes me want a Gibson Custom Shop Acoustic - Mike signature model with Mikes signature! GuitarJunkie
Now I dont know if it was just a coincidence: they listened and delivered just at the same time this character made his entrance; or if he had something to do with it (which I am more inclined to believe)... but I think we should thank Mike for the direction the forum took some weeks ago... Read the first post... http://forums.gibson.com/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=6952 But to condense it' date=' here are paragraphs 1, 7 and 10. Hi there. I figured it was about time the forum had a place where we could meet each other a little better' date=' tell folks what we're into, what brought us here, you know, all that kind of stuff. So, [b']I started this area[/b] and hope you'll all use it to introduce yourselves. In the back of my mind' date=' I always thought I'd end up back at Gibson at some point. I left on good terms, and I have a lot of respect for the things this company has done with my favorite guitars. This summer, [b']they made me an enticing opportunity offer to come back and take the helm of the websites[/b] and related creative marketing programs as Editorial Director. Its awesome to be back, and working with so many of the same colleagues who were here "back in the day." Customer service still does customer service.... I'm just here to try to make your website experience better' date=' and help get this community in better touch with each other. So, if you have ideas about things you want to see that we are not doing.... let me know. If you see something is gone that used to be around that you liked, let me know. Once in a while, I'll help you navigate a problem if you're having trouble, but I'm not the customer service professional you should be able to reach. [b']My goal is to take the content and direction to the next level[/b], and I want to hear from you throughout that journey.
