Does anyone know if guitars are cheaper in Thailand than say Australia or America? I am off to gig in Pattaya in 8 days and figured I might do some shopping if I can find a store. Not having much luck.

Be very careful buying guitars in Thailand, especially Pattaya, which seems to be the centre of dodgy goings on and counterfeit goods in Thailand. Certainly stay away from Cuban cigars, got burned my self.

I don't think it will be cheaper. Price of almost everything is similar to Malaysia (which just underneath Thailand on the map).
The simple rule is, if the country is poorer, the more expensive things are.

I don't think guitar, in any country, especially Gibson, can be cheaper than in States.

Have you ever been to Pattaya?

If not, prepare to be amazed.

Well you can't miss it. Mores the point, in a previous life I was a travel agent, a Thailand specialist and subsequently a round the world specialist. I know lots of things I wish I didn't. I had to help all sorts if people. One of my repeat customers was this old guy who went to Pattaya twice a year to spend a month (and a lot of money) with a prostitue who had convinced him that she loved him but couldn't be with him permanently because she had to look after her sick father, who was strangely never around. He was a creepy little toe rag. Now I think about him his son used to go too, he had another one, same story.

Eeeew! I shudder to think of it.

its the red light capital of Asia I scared myself by typing in Pattaya on youtube. [scared] its full on 10000 hookers in an area the size of manhattan all for 500-1000 baht thats like $30 a night. But no way in hell am I doing that I dont know how people would risk it. 60% of them have AIDs 90% have an STD of some sort or another. You may as well play Russian Roulette but load all the chamber but 1. Its work I'll do my gig and this work conference and be straight back at the hotel getting drunk lol

Lmao nah I was well clear of the Tina Turner impersonator.!!!! the crew got on a cab pick up on the way back to the hotel from walking street and this tourist and a "girl" got on the back too. the American with us was making faces like thats so hot wow amazing. When we got off I told him it was a lady boy and he freaked out he'd been perving on one. I think the tourist she/he was with was in for a surprise.[crying]
