Thermionik Posted October 25, 2008 Share Posted October 25, 2008 Somebody said it already, but Volume Pedal and Hot-Plat are two totally different beasts. Volume pedal is just like turning your guitar down - reduces the signal to the amp. Hot-Plate type attenuator reduces the output from the amp to the speaker - but without turning the amp down in any way, which leaves the distortion of the driven amp intact (well..... the tone suffers a little, but your neighbours quit beating you to a pulp for being too loud).
