Ok so I'm new to the forum obviously, and I really need some help about guitar strings.

Had the Epiphone DR 100 for 3 to 4 years now and miraculously I've never had to change the strings out... Until 1st string snapped on my hand the other night. Done my research on what gauges Epiphone uses on their acoustics, and know what to look for, but when comparing that to the sets of strings sold in 6 packs, I'm at a loss. Either two strings match and the rest are off by 0.1 or 4 match, but the other two are off by about 0.4 and I know I don't want to change that much. I honestly like the sound the original factory strings produce, so I want to try and keep the gauges as close as possible if not exact.

So my questions are::

What's the best Brand for strings for any Epiphone Acoustic? Have two different Acoustics and the strings on the second might need changing soon as well.

Should I get Extra Light, Lite, or Medium, or other?

Am I going to have to get individual strings to keep the gauges right or is there a full set that matches them?

Just so I know for sure, would 12s be the EXP12 Mediums or 12 as in the 0.12 Light range?

I prefer D'Addario 12-53s on all my acoustics. They should do quite nicely.

It was shipped with 12's, medium gauge. As long as you use a medium gauge string you'll be fine. You can have it set up for light or heavy strings but don't try and do it yourself.
Lots of video's with me playing music as well as some of my favorite song's here at Youtube

+1. I've used those and the Gibson Masterbuilt 12's as long as I can remember. They've always been good to me [biggrin]

I prefer 80/20 Elixir nanoweb lights .12-.53 (Phosphor Bronze is also available) ...I use them on all my guitars and find they last longer and sound better than other coated strings. They cost a few more bucks but WILL last 5 times longer than non coated strings. I use them on my Martin J-40 and my Taylor 815ce, on both RainSong Carbon Graphite guitars, and of course on my lowly but very sweet and dirty little Epi AJ220sce. Every guitar sounds completely different even tho they all have the same strings.

Have you tried Gibson J 200 12/53's. On my ej 200 they are the best that I have tried. [thumbup]
