Anybody knows which amp on a budget would be best to go with my SG special,I'm no tone freak and this is my first electric guitar and amp..Any suggestions for stuff under $170?
Also I'm looking at the
VOX VT20PLUS 30W combo amp
And
VT20 + 20W combo
As well as the Fender Mustang 1 20W Moddeling Amp..What are your thoughts on these?

Any of those mentioned are good and offer excellent tone options
The Roland Cubes are also good, in various sizes
There are also some nice Marshall Valvestates....

I would go with a Vox Valvetronics amp. Sounds great with my SG. I think the 30 watt amp is around $150

You say you are a tone freak, well. you might want to consider going with the Fender Mustang I. Once you download fuse you can have fun tweaking all the amp sounds with it. It is pretty loud for a solid state 20 watt amp. Vox makes some cool stuff as well. I just got an SG Special in ebony not long ago, great guitar for the price. I took all the plastic protection covering off of it but, I left the stickers on the back of the headstock and, I left the sticker under the tone pot. It looked like it would get messy taking off.
What da ya mean dude, You mean like dude ranch?........In other words, If music be the language of love, then play on!

I picked up a mustang III a few weeks ago, I've had the Vox amps, as well as some line 6 stuff.
They do sound good, but these Mustang amps are light years ahead of these others, sounds are killer and as mentioned the Fuse software is easy to install and use gives you access to things the on-board controls don't allow you to access (like noise gates, cabinet emulators, etc)
If you can go the extra cost for the III (299), I think it's worth it.
