I sure like my ca 1967 J-50 but every now and then see a Hummingbird and wonder what the difference really is, apart from more dressed up/fancy. Structural differences? Difference in sound? Do tell. Also what was the difference, even if slight, between the Hummingbird and the Dove?

the way gibson explains THE DOVE is that it's a result of merging the hummingbird with a J 200 .

so I guess it wood be boomer than a hummingbird but I'm no expert ...

note : as far as the J 45 and Hbird go , the J45 is a evolution of the jumbo stlye of the 30's

and the hbird is inclined towards the more traditional dreadnought guitar.

Differences between a 45/50 and a Hummingbird? Slope shoulder v. square for one. Big honkin' engraved pickguard on the Bird has a muting effect on the top, softening it's tone considerably compared to a 45/50. They are different beasts.
