The above link is incidental to this thread but thought it worth putting there for info.

Now I used to drink a lot of Coke, never been keen on Pepsi.

I used to use it as a mixer for my scotch but that was many years ago as I got to the point of believing that the mixer was causing me more harm than the alcohol! I now mix with diet dry ginger, Schweppes of course.

Having lost the taste for Coke I think it would be far too sweet for me now.

In fact the only carbonated drinks I have now are an occasional light beer and the dry ginger mixer which is not a lot.

Am I unusual or have some of you reached a point where you avoid Coke and it's clones?

Also what of the horror stories? "Removes the chrome off bumper bars?" "Excellent for cleaning up blood from crime scenes?" Anyone got any others?

I use it for mix with whiskey, rum, vodka, etc. I use orange juice sometimes but it's mostly cola, whatever the brand may be it doesn't really matter.

I drink it...my kids waste it. I prefer Coke Zero, it's closer to the taste of Coke Classic than the regular Diet Coke, and sometimes I enjoy the Hell out of the flavored varieties, Cherry being my favorite among those. Yes, I drink Coke. I used to do Coke, but that was a long time ago, and not something I'm particularly proud of except the fact I was able to kick it myself...figured enough's enough, and just stopped. That was almost 25 years ago.

Thanks, it was a pretty bad habit there for a while, sold a nice Boston Whaler for that crap, and still to this day KICK myself for being such a MORON. That and most of my worldly possessions (guitars included) to finance my habit. Then I started smoking it, almost died from doing it that way, and that was when I said enough's enough, sold what I had left to sell, bought myself another guitar, took the rest of the money, and moved to California to get away from it. At which point I discovered everyone and their dog out there was into Crystal Meth, which yes, I tried one time, didn't like it at all, and never did it again. Made me feel like I drank a keg of coffee, and kept me awake for almost 3 days. I can see why the Nazis called it "marching powder"...if my histories correct, it was invented by the Germans back then to keep 'em going. Back on topic, Coke will clean car battery terminals, and if left long enough on the cars paint, will take it off right down to bare metal, but it HAS to be regular Coke to do that. On a hot day, an egg will do the same thing, once it dries, the victim will attempt to remove the egg, and the paint will come with it. Guaranteed.

I don't know about Coke v/s Cancer, but PLEASE steer clear of 'Diet' Soft Drinks (Sodas/Pop)...

Our alarmingly slow moving medical fraternity have taken over twenty years to mull this over already... but there was & is very strong evidence to link Diet Soft Drinks v/s Brain Aneurisms...

I lost an otherwise perfectly healthy friend to this in 1991...

Following him passing away suddenly in his sleep, Diet Soft Drink consumption (which was quite extreme in Trevor's case) was the first question raised by the presiding coroner...

& anyway... the stuff tastes like $#!^

I do know that pepsi,coke have phosphoric acid! I also remember using phosphoric acid to derust parts in industrial manufacturing! also are you aware of the acid content in the stomach??

Blah blah blah, everythings bad for you. Most of you will die from some disease/sickness. Morbid enough? I drink coke and pepsi, got a problem? I use to smoke to but it came to the point of "Why am i still doing this?"( i think i did it to look cool anyways). Nothings good for you, nothing. I took a health class once, it was pretty pointless because in the end if you eat to much veggies, it becomes bad for you. If you drink to much water, it washes away your vitamins in your body, thus sickness. I hate health topics, ever mention that? Sorry if i'm to bold, mother always told me to be nice...

Yup, i use coke to clean battery terminals on cars. Clean the car and drink it!

Don't drink soft-drinks, or alcohol. I'm diabetic (Type II), so that stuff is way off limits!
I never liked the "diet" stuff, even when I did drink sodas, and that was precious little, even
before my diagnosis. I drink tea, green tea, and water! But, there are some good uses of Coca
Cola...

Cleaning blood out of fabric.
Cleaning toilet bowels and vitreous China.
Cleaning built up corrosion, on car battery terminals, etc., etc., etc.
Dissolving nails, and other metal, or meat off of bones...over time...

First of all, why oh why would any one ruin an alcoholic druink by putting fizzy juice in it? PUKE. .. Well ok maybe gin and tonic is the exception.

I quit caffeine a couple of years ago and along with that w ent cola drinks, and many other fizzy drinks.

I too have heard that there may be a link between diet drinks and cancer , something to do with a chemical used to replace the sugar called aspartame.
