Unusual Guitar Bajo Quinto

It is a Mexican instrument played in Mariachi and Tex-Mex bands. The over the top perfling and black/white markings similar to a paint horse is common with this genre of music. It goes along with the fancy vaquero dress.
The Bajo Quinto has five double courses of strings i.e. 10 strings. Like a 12 string guitar but with 10. I think it is tuned an octave higher than a western guitar.
Another Mariach/Tex-Mex band instrument is the Bajo Sexto, which has 6 double courses (12 strings) There are differences between the Sexto and the western 12 string, but I'm not exactly sure what. I believe it is tuned in the same octave as a western guitar.
As far as I know these instruments are all custom made in Mexico.
