After All These Years... An Introduction

Hello,

As a mod on another forum, I feel rude posting without introducing myself, so here I am on the Gibson forum because I stopped playing guitar in the late 1980s because it was affecting my focus in life! I played heavy metal guitar and classic rock then. I wasn't good at multi-tasking in those days... Anyway, got through college, started a career, got married, was no longer married, career went on great, dated, huge break up and looked for something to get my mind off of it... I came across an AJ Pro at GC and it sounded like a piano so all of the inspiration came back!

Although I had sold my 80s electric guitars -Why!? Why!?- Including a Byrdland,a purple Explorer -OK, maybe I don't miss that one so much! -I had a 1997 Stratocaster under my bed, hardly played! I briefly played surf music on it when I bought it in 97.

I'm now into country, classic rock, and blue. The Strat is great, but I wanted something twangy-er (new word!)and so I bought a Telecaster. Love it. It's fast and sounds great, but my memory flashed back to those Gibsons of my youth.

I fell in love with a honey-burst Les Paul Standard with the figured maple top and some coil taps on the '57 pups, which gives a great variety of sound. I bought it and a Marshall Class 5 amp and the combination was classic. Now I play all of the time.

I work in banking and live near Boston. I'm heading home now because my Gibson Jam Master Mandolin has arrived! Oops, I'm in trouble now!

So, I wanted to say hello to everyone and to thank you all for providing such great content in here that I am catching up on!

Welcome H.J.! The guitar has been a lifelong friend for me helping me cope through so hard times such as when loved ones pass away, as well as the good times sharing the music with friends and family. The guitar in essence is a another best friend init's own regard that is always there to turn to allowing younto express your feelings through the playing. It's no wonder whybso many people enjoy the guitar andsee them as morebthan mere pieces of wood, glue and hardware....
