Kentucky Gal Intro. Gibson Epiphone EJ200 AGE?

Just bought this Gibson Epiphone EJ200 guitar and don't know the age, but it is a beautiful blonde standard guitar. Any ideas on how to determine the age? It has both the Epiphone and the Gibson decals on it, which seems odd. It has a "Gibson" plate just above the neck on the tuning head. Then, "Epiphone" is at the top of the tuning head. Beautiful sound and easy to chord.

The serial number is S99050080. So is the last two numbers the year? Is it 1980?

Thank you, Pete. I had not a clue. Interestingly, it has both the Gibson and Epiphone decals on the tuning head.

The Gibson truss rod cover is not original to the guitar. It must have been added later.

Not entirely true. Many pre-2005 Epi Acoustics had the Gibson truss rod cover from the factory. Their use from the factory became less common around 2005.
