Yes. I've played it.

And it's a thousand dollars cheaper than it was last week.

He's been unemployed since 2006.

Duct tape = Straplock.

He's producing another solo recording, so I guess he needs some funds.

Is the high price because he used to be famous? Or do these guitars sell for that?

$4,500 is all I'd pay.

He used to be well respected, not so much famous.

And those 4500 would be mainly because you are a fan, or would that be the right price, if, say, Tim owned it and wanted to sell it to you? [confused]

$4,500 is about the average going rate.

That sounds like a pretty accurate description of not just Tommy's status as a professional guitarist, but also Tesla as a band.

They were successful during their time, but they were never what I'd call famous.

In the 80's/90's rock music scene they would have been to commercial rock what majority of the Shrapnel Records roster was to shred - lots of guys who were on the same skill level as more famous peers like Malmsteen, Satch and Vai, but just hadn't become household names. Mind you, with the exception of Satch and Malmsteen, most of the famous shredders got there by becoming a sideman to an already famous frontman or joined bands that had a more commercial sound.
Who are we to say who is crazy? For all we know the guy in the straight jacket might be the sane one and the loons are running the asylum.
