I know some people will like em.. I dont.. i find the fret markers looks like ghosts and i donno, just the whole thing doesnt do it for me.. Maybe just cos ive never been a big fan of either white or ebony finishes. Now if this were wine red or fireburst, then maybe :)

.

They've done 'em before, enough people like 'em. I recall see some from the late 70s. I think one of the forum members posted pics of one they owned.

I like it! It's a way around the entire Richlite controversy and goes into, dare I say, Fender terratory?!
I have a maple neck on my Tele and I like it very much. I've always wondered why Gibson didn't use it, beside the baked version.
It's all wood to please the purists among us and I like the striking look of those. I would have preferred silver hardware thinking that it would compliment the fingerboard a bit better.

Note: Has anyone else noticed that Gibson's copy reads as if it were translated poorly from another language??? Just a thought.

Yeah your right, ive seen them from the 70s.. just never quite appealed to me..
this is one ive seen up before.. these new ones are way lighter though (even though I guess the 75 may have started like that and the yellow colouring is just ware and tare and ageing.

I don't mind them. From a visual perspective and personal taste I do like a darker fretboard more than a ligher colored one. I agree with Hemingway Jones that silver/chrome hardware would suit this guitar better.

I'm sure it sounds just like the LP's we all have come to know and love.

It's about time Gibson updated their website for these, as they have been available since last fall. I've been waiting years for them to re-introduce the maple Customs. I just wish I had the cash right now to buy one before the run is over.

I like it, but I would like black blocks better. Like they had on the Natural RD with maple fretboard or the Fender Jazz bass. [thumbup]

I have wanted one of these since I saw a picture of one of the '70s ones a few years ago. Something about a maple fretboard has always felt really good to me. And looks wise I love the pale maple look with the pearl inlays.

Good point. Maybe some dark abalone (sp???) or black perloid traps???

I really like it in white. The pics dont do the fretmarkers justice on here. Once you play it and start getting some sweat and oils on the board the inlays will pop more. Also, for some reason Gibsons pics are always so light. The baked maple boards look so light on their site but in actuality they are darker than rosewood.
