Hello everyone! Here's my story....

Long version (see below for short version)...

I've been playing 17/18 years. I'm right handed but started on a left handed Westone (playing left handed...woops!). After a year and a bit I got a right handed Telecaster copy (Yamaha) as a Christmas present which, actually when I think about it, played remarkably well and sounded great too for a £200 1st guitar. It being right handed, I had to re-learn everything and nearly gave up as a result. The Yamaha got replaced by an Epiphone Les Paul Custom copy in Alpine White which was basically a polished turd that was nowhere near as easy or as comfortable to play as the Yamaha but it looked the nuts and for some reason thatís all I seemed to care about back then. A Luthier told me to get rid of it on its second setup a month later as it would never stay in tune and would always let me down. He was completely right but I just put up with it until 5 or 6 years ago when I saw The One. I had an Excalibur moment in a guitar shop in Bath called Vintage and Rare guitars. It was a 25/50 anniversary in Black and I'm convinced that it picked me. Itís been heavily gigged with and has quite a few scars to show for it but it didn't matter. It sounds beautiful. Stays in tune. It's built like a tank and weighs about the same too. When I am gone it will go to my son who I hope will become a guitarist too one day. Obviously its going to need some TLC to stay in shape and I want to learn about what's best to look after it long term keeping in mind that I don't plan on ever selling it.

Short version...

I own a 79 Black LP Custom 25/50 anniversary and I'm here to talk and to learn.

Cheers!

Jordan, UK.

Howdy, Kropodkin, welcome to the forums. I should point out that you have to have 100 posts before you can brag about your own axe.

OK, you've waited long enough. Jump on in, compadre, but you WILL need pics. [thumbup]

Those, "it picked me" moments are pretty rad, aren't they?

It was a first for me but yes it was; I knew it was mine the moment i saw it. I'd love to find an old beat up Cream/Yellowed/Aged White LP Custom to keep it company.

Cheers mate! Whereabouts in the UK is Jordan?

I have net-friends in Birmingham and Manchester, and an old college buddy of mine (now back in the States) lived in Stoke (taught at uni there) for a number of years.

South West London I'm afraid. Every living fibre of me tells me that I was built for the rolling countryside and to be closer to nature but unless I win the lottery, that's where I will stay until my kids leave home in 16 years. And then I'm off! Only 5840 days to go... [omg] [confused] ;)
