Jeeez.....I didn't archive that thread......It seemed safe......[crying] [blush] ......I missed what happened....:-k :-k :-k .....

As per i-phones, we don't have those yet.....( In our home ).....

No nor did I until my daughter gave me one last week. I was talking about them on another forum and one of the moderators PM'd me and offered me one he didn't need, so it looks like Mrs Digger might have one too.

I can't afford to buy a phone like this but I am very happy to have one as it's a great phone!

Lat week I had no less that 3 acts of generosity from forum members, none solicited and all of which humbled me. There are some really nice people in these places!

I choose to believe that good ultimately attracts more good Dig [thumbup]

& as a not entirely unrelated thought, I watched this fantastic film from 2007 last night.

A lot of it was shot around Odessa Texas, which had me thinking about our old mate Greg (animalfarm) some [crying]

Daughter Egglette & her very acceptable military BF are currently roasting Lamb Racks as a special early Fathers Day dinner tonight [thumbup]

Then, literally whilst I've been typing this, I get a call that our Night Manager has called in sick & that I might have to head into work for an 11pm start [thumbdn]

Anyways... HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL OUR FORUM DADS if that's on your calender this weekend!

Umm...Thanks? Father's Day was last June...different Father's Day?? Every day is Father's day to me now that I think about it. I am after all, a Father. Every day. For the rest of my life.

Now for a semblance of sanity! Boring though that may be.

I'm afraid that I am unable to defer the dreaded wood cutting expedition any longer..dammit!

My back is crying out "Oh no!" in anticipation, but the wood pile is bereft of quality material and the time is now!

On the other hand I'm full of family glow and have a mind full of nice thoughts.

23 maximum here today so I'd better be wearing gumboots for walking in the bush lest "Mr. Joe Blake" be out and about! I really should be going fishing this arvo but will have to see how we go??

Sitting here stuffed!

I tackled a really big tree (red box) that I had brought down and had to cut my way into it before I started. I managed to separate the trunk from the roots and cut half way through each round, Then I needed to roll the trunk over so I could complete the cuts without putting the saw blade into the dirt. Using a crow bar I managed to roll it a bit but needed a wedge to hold it. I scrabbled my block splitter over to use as a wedge as there was nothing else around I could readily use.

I made a mental note to be careful of the handle, and worked my way through a number of rounds finally separating them all. I thought where's that splitter as there were piles of sawdust all around me, yep you guessed it it was there with the handle sawn half way through...Bugger! I was that exhausted at half way through that I fear the brain was out of gear.

Fortunately I had cut about a weeks supply before tackling the big tree and I managed to carry that out to the trailer but the big tree was very heavy wood and I reckon each round was between 30 & 40 Kg's. They are there until I can fix the splitter and knock 'em down to manageable size, for an old fart with a crook back that is! Not that long ago I would have carried them out as they are, and that is probably why my back is buggered!!

Then I came out of the trees and was going along in the clear and the exhaust extension on the tractor's muffler swung down, hanging on by a thread!! Rusted through unfortunately. It's gonna take a lot of heat to get the remaining bit off but then fitting a new bit oughtn't be too hard.

On the other side of things I have enough wood cut to last through to October, or the end of the season. Just gotta split it and carry it out.

Maybe now I can service the chainsaws and drain the fuel for storage?
