AXE®
Neck and Fingerboard Similar to the body of the 1994 Les Paul Studio, the guitar neck is made out of mahogany and sculpted into the traditional Les Paul neck from 1959. Placed on top of the neck is the 22-fret fingerboard, made out of rosewood, which is not only sturdy, but "gives each chord and note unparalleled clarity and bite," according to Gibson's website. Placed along the fingerboard as fret-markers are the standard Les Paul trapezoid inlays with the "pearl" design. Because each neck is sanded by hand, according to Gibson, "there are no two necks with the exact same dimensions." Quantum
Thanks I had read that too - i talked to the guy he said it was an ebony fingerboard. This is consistent with some of the things I have read online about Studios made in the 90. Thanks!

BigKahune
. Up until a year or so ago, only two Studio finishes came with ebony fretboards - Silverburst and (Alpine) White. All the other Studio finishes were usually mated with rosewood fretboards. I'm guessing if someone has a different finish with an ebony fretboard it was a special/exclusive run, or the owner is mistaken and the fretboard is a dark piece of rosewood. It can be difficult to tell the difference. Darkened rosewood looks like ebony - see the open graining near the bottom of the pic .
