Seems to happen after 30mins or so of mixing. Usually a complete restart. Usually when Im recording a mix.

Hi Jim.
I have had my share of freezes and crashes over the year i have had this unit! I reckon I have it sorted now. There is plenty of info on the forum now, check out prof bx's recomendations for drives and prep. Also make sure there are no errors on your drives, try NTFS format and disc clean up and defragmentaton if you havent already. When you are sure the drive is good activate analize on the unit and do a database rebuild. I am pretty sure this has solved my issues. I did a 5 hour set Friday and it worked flawlessly.

Hope this helps.

Have you tried 3.1.1 yet from the general forum? As well, are you recording to a different drive than you are playing back from? Finally, are you using HP drives?

HP drives are, by far, the worst thumb drives I have ever used. It isn't even funny. On SCS.4DJ, the problems become even worse, as their read/write speed depends on weird odd sized chunks that are used to sort of cook the books. I typically will say "Anything will work, you just want to get the best you can for the best performance" with SCS.4DJ, but with HP drives I have encountered freezes, stutters and generally awful performance.

I'll get myself a couple of new drives then. Will I be able to just copy from the Hp drives to a new one or should I copy the tracks from their original hard drive?

Start fresh and quickgrid a new drive to be safe.

Right. Just got me a new 16gb USB drive. Transferred a load of tracks across. Quick gridded em......&.........it's all good. Seems like a new machine. Going to spend the night mixing now.
Are there any links on how to make & organise a playlist? Can't seem to get my head round it on the machine (probably really easy I know!)
