It is so upsetting that gibson would allow a tommy thayer signiture guitar....
and I'm using kind words. I don't dislike him personnaly because I don't know him.
but it is appauling that he himself would do this on the heels of a true rock star Ace frehely.
How can he promote himself as the spaceman this is an imposter. and you give him his
own guitar. especially after you just released the Ace budokan.
come on this is a disgrace.
I have been a big supporter of gibson for years I own SG,explorer, ace epi.Joan jett.
the Signiture guitars are for musicians that have made a major contribution to the music world.
and have been unique individuals.like gibson itself.not copy cats.
I have never been so compelled to right in to a forum. to dissaprove of this Thayer guitar
it is not right to take new fans as idiots and fool them into buying guitars from an imposter.
I am dissapointed in gibson and epiphone for doing this type of thing
thank you
Bongofury from the band Trash....

Welcome to the Corporate world my friend.....Those that have all the money, run the world. I pick up my Derik Trucks SG, crank up the amp, and play my frustrations away. The world of music is a beautiful thing! [thumbup]

You ask, "Why would they do this?". Well, for money, of course.

A disgrace? I hardly think so.
Ace is one of my favorite guitar players. But it doesn't bother me a bit that Tommy is getting his own sig guitar.
Do you really think it bothers Ace a single bit? Probably not.

Relax dude, it's not the end of the world. [scared] :)

Ya maybe your right, I might be over reacting a bit but dont call yourself the spaceman
he didn't create that and dont put a photo of him in Ace makeup .
I guess its all about the money because no one would know who he
was without the make up.
why don't they make other sig models in epiphone of new and old artists
that are influentcial

Because "Influential" don't sell. "Popular" sells, even if it's crap (which it often is).

Albert Collins is a HUGELY influential guitarist, but I don't ever expect to see an AC signature model. That guy from Blink 182 gets a signature model because he's popular and can sell guitars, even though he hasn't influenced s**t.

as an odd twist of fate, Epi(Gibson) should dump off their confiscated counterfeit geets in this series (modded as T/T LPs).... [scared]
sorry if that sounds evil, sometimes I just can't help myself...........

Being more into kick *** rock than KISS *** rock, I completely missed the publicity on this guitar. So what is it, a L.P., a 335, Flying V or what?

If Gibson's criteria for having a signature is so lax that even a person completely unknown for being a guitarist such as Keifer Southerland can qualify to have a signature guitar then we should be able to expect anyone to have one.I wouldn't be at all surprised if theres a Justa Beaver signature guitar in the works.
Epiphone John Lennon '65 Casino,Natural Casino,Epi. G400 Custom,Epi. EJ160E John Lennon,Epi.Custom Shop Firebird sunburst,Vox Phantom XII,Mk VI Acoustic,Astro IV Bass Model V273.Hagstrom Corvette&Mk II.'66 Gretsch Tennessean.various Fenders&other guitars&s.

Personally I think there have be far less deserving people with signature guitars long before this one. It hard to face the facts, but Gene and Paul own the rights to the makeup designs now, so they are going to market them any way they can. I've said for years Paul and Gene will retire and put replacements in their make up. They already have a Gene Simmons replacement, that does a better job than Gene does, working for them. I'm sure he'll step in at some point.

As for the guitar, I kinda like it, not because it's a signature guitar, but I like flashy guitars. I don't plan on buying one, but if I did I would change the truss rod cover and anything else that would make it a Tommy Thayer guitar, and it would have to be cheap

I don't quite get it either, sounds like they are double-downing on anything they can plug a name on.

Personally, I just have never seen the allure of "signature" models anyway,

But they must have an attraction because between Fender and Gibson alone, the list of Sig. models has increased every time you turn around..

Some signature models have really nice or upgraded features on them that are not available on standard models.
