Taylor Player Posted December 3, 2008 Share Posted December 3, 2008 As a fingerstyle acoustic player, I keep them very short on my fretting hand (left) and slightly longer on my right hand so I can use the nail for additional attack when playing if needed. Mostly I use the finger pad on my right hand, but some songs need additional attack or slap type sound which means you have to use the nail. I also use my index nail on my right hand for bluesy runs by basically pretending to hold a pick and using the nail. Works good that way on my Strat too.
