What contributes most to great mid 20th century acoustic tone

I would have to say it is a combination of several things but to me, a luthiers construction technique is the most important determination. Yes wood certainly vary's the tone, but bracing patterns, soundboard thickness, and other factors that come to play with various luthiers is typically the largest determination of overall tone IMO.

Good point Taylor. When they left the ladder bracing for the X type it changed the acoustic for ever.

 

See nay-sayers I can at times actually post real guitar stuff. Even if the others are more fun. How's your nut?

Perhaps you would like a tortes shell or ivory one. Bet that would go over well the next time you crossed the border with you favorite ax.
