Going a bit off-topic, I know but I, too, like EC's "Journeyman" album.

My favourites are, in 'Runner-Up' spot "Before You Accuse Me" and, in First Place, this wonderful version of a great song. The guitar work is restrained and SO tasteful;

Since we are all at it.. :)

I REALLY like Bad Love... the solo is just amazing

Pippy...

Add to that ... A journeyman is an independent. The "master" was a journeyman to took the step to accept responsibility to teach and raise apprentices...

So yeah... I'd say I'm a journeyman at this point in life...

Not wishing to start a bunfight, Rob, but the title 'Journeyman' doesn't demean anyone so described in the slightest; it simply denotes someone who has completed their Apprenticeship - i.e. someone who is considered no longer 'in training' - and who works on a day-to-day basis as opposed to being in full-time employment.

In my own professional life as a freelance professional photographer with a Bachelor of Arts degree in the subject behind me this term could be used to describe my status perfectly.

I'm sure EC chose the album title with tongue-in-cheek but he'd probably agree that - his undoubted skills and consumate talent notwithstanding - he could be so described...

Pippy, you won't get an argument from me!

I was being flippant about being a journeyman once you've finished your apprenticeship.

Photography, like music, is as much 'art' as 'science'. so being successful doesn't mean you know all the tricks to make the camera work....but have the ability to use
that knowledge to capture an image that can be sold.

[lol]

And here I was thinking I was going off-topic...

I needn't have worried.

Although I must say I didn't see SNL and the 'Sloppy Swish' is wasted on me.

For the moment....

I consider Eric WAY BEYOND a journeyman guitar player.

Way way beyond! He is a guitar.

Bad Love is a definite favorite of mine. To me that riff is quintessential Clapton, or crystallized Clapton riffage.
