Epiphone E-Series Basher

Hi,

I buy, sell and repair guitars.

Usually nothing special or expensive.

I call it "guitar rescuing", anything I can find for a good price and move on to the next owner.

I recently picked up a Epiphone LP style guitar.

Again, nothing fancy, made in China, bolt-on neck ...

But it does have a headstock and logo that is different from other LP Specials.

Maybe an early China model befor things got standardized?

Can anyone offer a little background on this?

Google "Epiphone E Series guitars", you might get more information.

 

Those flying E head stock guitars are called "E Series".

Hi,

Yes I used the info you provided earlier to search on-line.

So I went from not knowing anything about this particular guitar to being an expert (kidding).

I really can't comment on how well it plays, I'm a very weak guitarist.

It sounds "good", how's that for insightful.

Like I said, I buy, sell and repair guitars as a hobby.

I did clean the fretboard, polish the frets, adjust the truss rod, change the strings, clean the controls, shield the control cavity w/ conductive paint and foil on the cover.

 

I realized that this guitar was different and I that should have some background on it, so I didn't misrepresent the guitar and I could answer any basic questions I might get.

I also needed to figure out a reasonable price to ask.

 

So I put it out for sale yesterday for .....(drum roll)........ $95

Maybe that will stir up some comments.

 

Now I'll put on my flak jacket and go hide in the closet.

I also put an entry here asking about the same model. They were produced in 2001 at the Muse plant in China. The one I enquired about is a "Blood Red", E series ("Flying E"), Solid body, Les Paul style guitar. I don't know how long that style was made, but I don't see any new ones around in the stores. In fact the only ones I've seen (3), were made in 2001. It would be nice to know if they were made beyond that year, and if not, why.

No, they were only made for the 2001/2002 model year, meaning that most, if not all, were made in 2001.
