My 2010 J45 TV has this same sort of thumpy sound - with a very quick decay. Conversly, my Custom Shop Southern Jumbo has a more sustained sound, like in this clip. I'd always been afraid that they'd sound too much alike, but the difference, even though the construct is quite similar - adi top, hog back and sides, and the SJ has the wider neck, I think the interior bracing pattern is the same, all I asked for in the SJ was advanced X 30's style bracing - maybe the difference is in the degree of angle in the X, I don't know. Viva le difference !

Is it me or does this guitar sound dead? Very muffled and average?

When I was back home in Oz over Xmas I got to play a whole heap of vintage Gibsons including a number 40's models which were amazing. They also had a 57' J-45 and I remember it sounded similar to this one. not very impressive and nowhere near as open and full as the 40's varieties. Huge difference in tone and feel within those 10 years.

I listened to quite a few of the other videos on their site - thanks for the link. The CME has some nice guitar players to demo their guitars!
At first listen, the J45 sounded a lot like my 52 LG1!
People talk about 'tight' new guitar needing loosening up, well here is a guitar that is 'loose'! Any looser and it would collapse in a packet of parts....like my LG1 threatens.
