lengle1981
For me its the 335's/semi's. Had a dot, casino, Sheraton and 355 throughout the years. I've had les Paul's and SG's too but I always revert back to the hollow body/ semi hollow in the end. Although I'm probably being vague and not narrowing it down to an exact model, that's my choice. Cyphre
Ditto. I am mad for the 335/Dot/Sheraton semi-hollowbody. I haven't had the opportunity to really play a Casino yet, but I figure I might rather like that one as well, as different as it is.
wiggy
I really, really want to say a Les Paul, logic says it's a thin line semi such as a 335 but ultimately nothing has surpassed Leo's two planks and a couple of pick ups nailed together. tweed2
I've gotta say that I like my Casino the best, of my Epis. And second only to my Ric, period.

My big cherry Dot is the greatest. I'm also bottom feeding for an ES-339, a Sheraton II, a Joe Pass, a Swingster, a Casino....

Dennis G
Well, I'm really diggin' my 'Kat, and I totally love my Dot, but if it comes down to it, I've gotta stick with my Elitist Casino. I think Sir Paul got it right on the "only one guitar thing".
Old Rocker 59
As far as Epiphones are concerned, I'm definately hooked on the Les Pauls , especially since I own one . LOL. I do however , have plenty of love for my Fender Strats as well .

Bluemans335
That's a tough question. I really like their Les Pauls and 335's, tied for first. But then second place is a tie with their SG's and '58 V's. And Casinos are really nice. Decisions, decisions... Â The only solution is to have all of them. Â Personal opinion obviously for both of us but from my perspective I love the simplicity and flexibility of the design allied with the fact that the Tele works for everything from Country to Metal via blues, rock & roll, rock, jazz, punk. - you name it! Bluemans335
Personal opinion obviously for both of us but from my perspective I love the simplicity and flexibility of the design allied with the fact that the Tele works for everything from Country to Metal via blues, rock & roll, rock, jazz, punk. - you name it! Â Most bands don't play both country and metal, and if they do, I'm not going to go and see them. While Teles excel at country, there are many better choices for metal. Take country out of the equation, and there's a better guitar for any other genre than a Tele. I'm not a proponent of the 'do-everything' guitar, as more specialized guitars can do a better job at most things. If you only can afford one guitar and your band plays 10 genres of music, then a do-everything guitar makes sense. With good import guitars being so inexpensive these days, and even more-so on the used market, most players have several guitars (or more) and the do-everything concept isn't particularly relevant. Â For a simple, versatile, no-frills guitar, I much prefer a Les Paul Special or SG Special over any Fender.

Check out Danny Gatton, Roy Buchanan, James Burton, Roy Nichols, Brent Mason, Ed Bickert, Wilko Johnson, John 5, Bill Kirchen, Redd Volkaert, or any of the millions of great Tele players out there in virtually all styles of music, and then tell me that Tele players are minimalists. Oh--Albert Collins, Jeff Beck, Kenny Vaughn, Don Rich...

milod
Okay... I'll join the fun... Â RE: the Tele... Â I'd love to have one for the sound, but I'll likely never own a Fender/Squier because of their round fingerboards. I'd strongly consider one with a 14" fingerboard radius. But Buchanan could make his Tele sing with jazz material which is why I'd consider the flatter fingerboard to fit how my hands and head approach some material I think a Tele might work for. Â But that'd not be 'cuz of country, because regardless of many years of saloon country pickin', I just don't hear the music that way unless you're seeking a special sound with a given piece. Â Back in the '70s I got the Guild SG clone - no Gibsons/Epis available anywhere around where I was at the time - for country/country rock. There were Fenders available but I don't consider them really "playable" with what my hands do. Â Epis? Â Well, this'll sound horrid, but I love my Dots, and I have three flattop AEs that don't count as "electrics," so forget those. Â But... and why this'll sound horrid, I have the Dots for playing out in group situations, but except for one year when I did a solo fingerpicked ragtime piece on the sunburst Dot that I had written... most of the time playing just for me or solo stuff out, it's a 16" full hollow archtop for general material or my cheapest flattop, the PR5e AE although it even works well for jazz IMHO. Â I don't have a Joe Pass because the closest guitar store had orders to call me when they got in either the Eastman fake one-pup ES175 or the Pass - and the Eastman got in the store first.
