  1. The Gibson Johnny A is a fantastic guitar. It's hard to fathom how a guitar like this and it's case could be separated. The cases were made by TKL. The earlier cases had the green lining and faux alligator covering and were a product of the TKL USA Custom shop. The later models were more of a standard TKL Canada Gibson case. I would guess these are a unique size but TKL should be able to steer you in the correct direction. I have a 2007 Johnny A Signature and it came with the earlier faux alligator case. Either way your will have a great guitar. Good luck with your search and let us know what you find out. Thanks John
  2. I remember playing a L-4CES that had the same pick up covers. It was a L-4 Custom Shop model and possibly a NAMM guitar with a pearlescent white finish. All the gold metal parts were engraved as shown. I know this doesn't help but I will never forget the guitar. Pretty cool but a bit fancy for me. Thanks John
  3. My dad was a Ford guy but I eventually overcame the handicap! I had a couple1962 Ford Thunderbirds then a 1966 Olds Toronado then finally it's been Dodge trucks and cars for the last 45 years. From a 1937 Dodge 1/2T to a 1969 Dodge W300, with 60 some trucks in between. Thanks "Power Wagon" John
  4. The L-5 CES Swifty model! I can't wait! Thanks John
  5. That is a very cool guitar, complete with the CC-bar pick up and a Van Eps mute. I admit I have a soft spot for L-4's. Play it in good health. Thanks John
  6.  David, I found out Trent had passed away in June when I was down for our truck rally. I hope you are recovering from you fire episode and wanted to wish you well. So sad about Trent!

     Thanks John

  7. A R Duchossoir Gibson Electrics The Classic Years is an excellent book and covers mid 1930-1960's. Anything by Bacon or Wheeler are great books also. Thanks John
  8. Great, lets see some photos when you get your new guitar. Thanks John
  9. I hope you know I was just joking Hype. If you want a ES-355 TDSV you should go for it. As I said I have a 2009 ES-345 and I really like the guitar. I sometimes use the stereo with two of my amps and I use the Varatone quite often, esp. in my buddie's studio. I call it my analogue modeling guitar. Several great players made very good use of these features. I sold my Les Paul when I got my dream guitar, a Gibson Johnny A Signature. We only go around once in life. Thanks john
  10. Will the Murphy Lab, break the neck and re-glue the headstock back on? Imagine how much my 1969 SG Std. is worth! Even less than the Steve Ford model. I will have to stick with my ES345 in walnut. Thanks John
  11. My ES-225 T is not for sale so your point is moot. I never had any feedback problems but I don't use it for anything high gain, after all it is a hollow body guitar not another Les Paul. I am actually installing a staple pick in the guitar, no modifications needed. My point was to the OP question that at this point his guitar is a used guitar and probably as unique as my ES-225, so I don't think a small defect that was original to the guitar will affect it's value much. We still want photos. Thanks John
  12. On a unique model as yours I wouldn't think it will make much of a difference. after all it is a used guitar. I have a 59 ES-225 that is marked as a second because of some cracks in the top ply of the laminate and is not structural. It didn't make any difference to me. We would like to see photos of your guitar. Thanks John
  13. I remember people saying 1991 was part of the "good wood" years. It didn't stop me from selling it so I could buy my 2007 Johnny A Custom. Now I am thinking that 2007 was the good wood years or 2009 like my L-4CES. Thanks John
  14. I picked up a nice used 2007 Johnny A Signature a couple months ago. It has got me covered for Christmas and my birthday on Feb. 14. It is a great guitar, especially as i have it dialed in just to where I want it. Plays like a dream and sounds great. I am a very happy guy. I hadn't bought a guitar for 4 or 5 years. Now amps are a completely different thing, I seem to bring a couple a year home. Thanks John
