  1. Yeah. They are more sophisticated for want of a better word. Another artist gone too soon.
  2. Pioneer high school ? Sounds like it needed a name change as well as a teacher change. Equal Opportunity Offender.
  3. "The City of New Orleans". I wouldn't call it 'work, because I enjoy it. And I do it when I feel like it. No rush. Funny how a song you've 'heard a million times' suddenly attracts your attention. I assume it's not because the song changed, but because my musical taste/appreciation has. Last one I learned was from the musical "Hamilton". I have no idea what inspired me to tackle that one! "You'll Be Back". My problem (one of them) is that I've taken a vacay on keeping up on the playlist of songs I had nailed - for a couple of years. And they're starting to get fuzzy. I need to change my attitude and not let little things like cutting the grass get in the way. Since I have a small, captive audience of a wife and 3 dogs - there is no real 'fan appreciation' factor.
  4. I was born in a log cabin I helped my father build. As you can see from my avatar, I've got nothing else to contribute here. Had a nice avatar, but it disappeared during some system update.
  5. After a panoramic dental radiologic scan of my head, my dentist told me I had unusually large sinuses. Approximately 3 decades ago, it just occurred to me he may actually have been suggesting what took up the rest of the space in my head was unusually small.
  6. I am glad you are coming out of the fog. That is the only way I can describe the mental anguish - it is real but you can't touch it. Can't escape it - it surrounds you, covers you. BUT it will lift and the sun will shine again. Absolutely. You have to realize that you can make it happen though. And your wife would want you to. Just like she'd want you to smile every time you pick up that JP.
  7. In my life, I have had too many instances of inexplicable events - that all point to something "supernatural" - for me to believe there is not something, somewhere for us when we die. Out of respect for others' beliefs, I just deleted some thoughts I penned - which travelled past Feelings, through Philosophy and stood on the threshold of 'religion'. I can only offer the inescapable fact that everyone here has experienced the pain of loss of a loved one at some time in their lives, and we share that real, but invisible bond with both of you, Duane and John.
  8. I use to frown upon it when I did something or said something just like my Dad would - when he was alive. Now, that he has moved on - even after 15 years, I smile when I do something or say something like he use to .
  9. I use 3 different picks - but one of them is the Dunlop Tortex I think it's .7 and yellow. I put a type of 'medical bandage tape. on the bottom half for drop. It's that clear tape you can rip sections off easily: 3M 'Transpore'. Stays stuck and lasts forever.
  10. Great article - lots of stuff I didn't know. Which there had at least been a top of the hat to Henry J. He also 'saved' Gibson. But, yes, he got caught up in the 'diversify' fad and went into home electronics instead of focusing on musical instruments.
  11. Yeah. Not having OSHA, Fidh and Wildlife, EEOC, etc breathing down your necks lets you focus on quality. “new hi tech equipment “? The label says “Handcrafted”. And who designed and bought that equipment? “Chen Bo”. Or Gibson?
  12. GGumbino = Wowsers! Thanks for Rowe's take on Vincent Black Lightning. "Powerful" as a chainsaw at a poetry reading !
  13. I would think it would be perfect for that. Avoiding situations where you might damage your 'high end' J45, but bringing one that feels and sounds almost identical, down to the headstock shape and model designation. Comes with a hardshell case, where many IBGs don't. I assume, with a thermally aged red spruce top - these are made in Japan where the quality is higher, as opposed to China. If you have a need for and can afford a 'backup' guitar, that is much more than a 'beater' - this is what I'd go for.
  14. I've got an amp with a volume dial that goes from 1 all the way up to 11. It is much louder than those that only go 1 - 10.
