I had a big day starting just after it was light enough to get out yesterday as without starting early, the heat is stopping me from doing much work this time of year.

I got lots done and mowed and slashed as well. Not so bad on machinery as you create you own breeze....Grin~

I finished up at 5.30 and told Gael she was taking me out to the club for tea.

We made new friends while we were there and met others.

    Good day all round.

So today weíre on the Melbourne train about lunchtime as a surprise for our mate Dave whose birthday is today. How Carolyn is going to get him there is hard to imagine. We are part of the surprise, and weíll be sitting next to them on the train! So then to a fancy hotel in Melbourne, a slap up dinner at the restaurant and we come home tomorrow. Seems a bit of effort and expense for one night, but then itís Dave, heís worth it!

I think currently I have some 300 books in my Kindle, a device generally smaller and lighter than one paperback. In other words I carry with me far more books on my person than all the real books we have in the house. Best bit is that I can easily alter the font size for low light or for when my eyes get tired.

Searching for a new book I have millions to choose from and can be reading witjin a minute.
The Kindle app allows you to do all that on your phone and computer too.

Ah the green, green grass of home. That's a big lawn Rob,no wonder you're always mowing.

Thatís a paddock in front of us in the direction that the bushfires usually come from and so this time of year Iím fanatical about keeping it down. Most of the property is drying off, and that is only a small part of what I look after.

Donít want cattle again, donít need the responsibility just to keep the grass down.
