    18 C and partly cloudy!!

Yesterday turned to poo early and an attempt to walk the dogs came to a screeching halt when it turned very cold and started to drizzle on us. They weren't amused!

Came in at about 10.30 and lit the wood fire...stayed there as it didn't get much better!.

On the occasion of our G G'daughter's birth it seemed a bit lame to toast her with water so I tried a small measure of Glenfiddich....yuk!

I took one sip and tipped it out!

Must be 14 months or so since I've tasted Scotch, or in fact alcohol at all!

I have a routine doctor's appointment this morning, other than that, we'll see how the day goes??

    Pedals?

Only one, a Behringer V-amp, 100 effects, so probably not a real pedal at all. Fun to muck around with though...esp, wah.

Hope those fires don't arrive on your doorstep, Dig.

Yeah, the POW camp was interesting. One aspect was upsetting to us. Two of the Australian soldiers killed received posthumously the George Cross. One, Private Shepherd, despite being killed, was considered to have died while on duty and not on active service. As a result, his widow receive zilch from the Government and was so poor was forced to relinquish her three children to foster care. Very, very sad.

We've been through there many times, even stayed but have never been to look at the gardens or other things at Cowra, perhaps we should?

Interesting story about the POW escape attempt at Cowra during WW2 http://www.historych...ner-war-escape/

A few minutes ago I heard that there were fires about an hour away from us in different directions. One East the other NW! Bugger!

Never heard of bushfires this early, or much before Christmas and that's in 35 years! Been so windy too! I knew it was going to be a bad bushfire year.

    Might see BBQ's sooner than I imagined~

With all the hurricane flooding from Irma, a lot of my friends in the center of the state have alligators swimming in their yards currently. My parents had a fat water moccasin swim up their road too. He is now deceased.

    Someone has a new belt?

Householders in Darwin get Crocs in their yards or pool from time to time too and they have to be removed. Recently we were in Cairns in far north Queensland and passed a small creek about a kilometre from where were were staying to be told that there had been dozens of Crocs removed from it over time! Bloody astounding as there were properties all around it inc large residential areas.

I guess it's just an adjustment you have to make to live in those places. Cairns is a beautiful & desirable place to live too!
