Thinking of getting a Bad Monkey Distortion pedal
06 April 2013 - 10:11 AM
Well after watching quite a few Phil X crazy sales videos (really enjoyed them)and just discovered him on youtube. He always says he's using his Bad Monkey pedal and I really like the sound of it,seems to work with all the guitars he plays.I checked around online and the seem to go around $49.99 actually a good price for a distortion.I have heard it compaired with a tube screamer a few times but I guess I should get my butt over to Sam Ash and try one out.Just wanted to see what you all thought about the pedal.I'm actually suprised I havent heard much about Phil X,s videos dam he can play just about any song weather he knows it or not, great ear training. So what you think here's a link to MF on a Bad Monkey.

Epi Tommy Thayer spaceman LP
19 January 2013 - 09:55 AM
I just got an American Musical supply catalog in the mail and the Epi Tommy Thayer spaceman LP is on the cover, first time I've seen or heard of one.I checked out a spaceman axe video on the catalog online page and I really dig the looks and the sound of it.It even has some some decent pickups with the Gibson 498t humbuckers and with the spaceman silver hard case and the strap.Seems $699.00 isnt a bad price but in another catalog a Gibby LP worn cherry studio was $529.00 minus another $75.00 if you used the coupon also in the catalog. Anybody see or try one out the Epi Spaceman yet again seems like a nice Epiphone Signature to own and are they going to make a Gibson version. As for Epi's I usually just dig the bigger hollow/semi hollow bodies archtops, especially a Sheraton I owned about 10 years ago, what a great Jazz/Blues tone that axe had.Any thoughts on Tommy Thayre's spaceman Epi axe.

The GFS PU page has guitars?
12 January 2013 - 09:45 AM
After seeing an older thread about GFS pickups I was looking around the site and see their are Xaviere guitars that seem to be darn inexpensive price wise.OK granted I would always rather a Gibson if I had a bunch of cash but right now cash is tight and I'm Gassing for a new axe.I hope I dont lose this thread talking about another brand of axes but I was looking for either an inexpensive Strat style guitar XV870 or a LP shaped guitar and seems these would have decent pickups to start with.

or seeing as I cant affird a real gibson the XV500 series

so whats the story on these either cheap (I hate to use that word)guitars or how good are their pickups.I looked on harmoy central and they got very good ratings and again being poor and gassy at the momennt is the only reason I'm asking. Thanks for any answers -
Joe Bonamassa on PBS from NY last night
02 June 2012 - 05:57 AM
Wow he is amazing,Ive heard some of his tunes before but live he is amazing.Usually PBS (especially here in GA)repeats things so check all your guides he is well worth seeing. What really threw me is I can usually tell what kind of guitar someone is playing pretty quick and especially with Joe you expect a LP.For his first song last night it wasnt a LP.It had a headstock like a firebird and a body like a LP but the cut out was sharper more of a florentine and it only had one humbucker PU in the bridge position. It had two knobs I would guess volume and tone and a beautiful dark sunburst finish.I did think for a miniute it might have been something vintage but it was to new the paint was just beautiful.Again if you can catch him in a repeat on PBS go for it Dam he rocks and maybe someone can tell me what he was playing.
