  1. I have read this thread with much interest and would agree with JimR that the guitar is not 60's. However I can't make out if there is a volute or not...does not look as if there is one. What does that tell us ito dating it ? Surely early 70's at the latest ? But then there is the absence of the varitone hole in the tailpiece which dates it (from Jim's post) to 1975 and later. Surely one would expect to see a volute then ? But all in all, I love Hannu's S400,refin'ed or not....I think it's a stunning looking axe.....and I bet it sounds great !
  2. Well Jaco if the (original) pots are from '73 then the guitar could be from '73 or even '74 and surely won't be any earlier.I don't think you should make much of the fact that it's a '73. The Norlin era Les Pauls are good guitars by all accounts...they're just not much collectable. (relative to the late 60's ones with one-piece necks and bodies). The modern Les Pauls, especially the Customshop models, are much much closer to the real thing of the 50's. Older is not always better or valuable to be honest.
  3. I looked at the one pic of the guitar you posted...very nice tobacco burst ! The 70's pancake bodies and 3-piece necks and headstock volutes of the Norlin era are NOT very popular with collectors unfortunately.
