I've never played a VM LP before, but I was checking them out on MF, and it looks pretty awesome. the MFers have got 'em on sale for around 850... I agree, the worn brown looks way better than the cherry... I was never a big fan of "worn" cherry before, it's nothing like the finish on my 61 reissue. sweet guitar!
