  1. Cole Clark Guitars with Triple Source Pickup

I have not played one but a lot of people in Australia do - I think I can see why! Guitar fund currently empty after buying a Maton..... <_<

Check out the video with the 3 way pickup system and added bonus surprise at the end of the video.

  2. "Burn For You"

    15 October 2017 - 06:06 PM

I recorded my solo acoustic version of Phil Buckle's "Burn For You" using my Maton SRS808 Cedar over Blackwood guitar and my Shure SM58 mic direct through my Boss VE-8 > iMac.

I am very pleased with playing this little guitar and also very pleased with the dual source pickup, so here is a old tune, no eq added or anything except with the Boss....would have been real handy to have this setup 40 years back instead of POS, run straight to a nice little PA....! [mellow]

So my new Maton SRS808 is getting broken in after attending BK's Boot Camp and at 5 days old [biggrin] is coming along beautifully, thanks very much. Cedar tops don't take much to get going for fingerpickers.....

Currently training it with the capo on the 3rd fret and the tone is very nice there.

So here is my instrumental version of an ode to Oz - acoustic only recorded with Neumann KM184 to iMac.:

  4. Song Using My New Maton SRS808

    03 October 2017 - 07:48 PM

I just recorded a fingerpicked version of Neil Young's "Comes A Time" (nothing like it, sorry) to show my new Maton SRS808 and its pickup system. The track has the guitar plugged direct, using the undersaddle pickup and internal mic, both on full. Ran a Shure SM58 for the vocal, and both mic and guitar to my Boss VE-8 acoustic/vocal gadget.

A strange choice, they will all say!

So an explanation....a friend turned up last year with a new dread model Maton with nice Blackwood back and sides and a Sitka top and it sounded great, acoustic AND electrified - it has the new pickup setup with undersaddle and mic and barn door controls.

Myself - not interested in a dread version, and I didn't like the older model Matons that were fairly overbuilt, but I was reading somewhere how the Maton SRS808 has scalloped foward shifted braced Cedar top and Blackwood b/s and that happens to be my latest preferred top and my Lowden S35 has Cedar top and figured Tasmanian Blackwood b/s and I love this combo.

So trundled down to the very close music shop that sells them - they sell Matons everywhere around here - they are made here - and had the cutaway (Solid Road Series) SRS808c and non cutaway SRS808 to try! Couldn't tell the difference in either but I kind of liked the non cutaway look and it was $100 cheaper.....

Hey, they are stunning! And the pickup is great - dual source with mic. Potential road warriors, let me tell you. [biggrin] [biggrin] [biggrin]

Photos to come but here is one from an English shop to look at:
