Topics I've Started

  1. Some Bottleneck on my 1952 Gibson LG1

    11 August 2017 - 09:56 PM

I tried the iRig Acoustic Stage mic in the soundhole of my 1952 Gibson LG1, preferred guitar for late night bottleneck without waking the whole street with my National - so here is my short instrumental loosely based on "Fall Down On My Knees" > guitar > iRig > A & H mixer > iMac......and don't let me forget my excruciatingly wonderful Diamond Bottlenecks "Blue Diamond"........made of Italian blue Murano glass - travelling in Merc style on slide! I may have to take it down the blues club and give it a shake...

  2. BluesKing777 Playing Blues on his Blues King. Ha!

    08 August 2017 - 06:45 PM

    Always wanted to say that!

Recorded a quick little bluesy thing on the Blues King L-00 with the iRig Acoustic stage mic direct to my mixer and iMac.

I am really enjoying the iRig setup - slip it in the soundhole of any guitar I pick up and....go:

  3. "Got No Use For You"

    03 August 2017 - 06:56 PM

Woke up this morning and I have been playing lots of open tuning things all week and I just thought: "How many GADS can I do DAD?" and grabbed the nearest guitar in normal (ish) tuning and launched into a slow blues, and then I thought I better tape it, so....

My solo acoustic/vocal version of a T Bone Walker tune called "Got No Use For You", no mine is probably more sirloin than T Bone>>>>some may say Chuck steak....played on my Martin OM18 Authentic with guitar and vocal through the Neumann KM 184 > mixer > iMac.

  4. A Small Profit.....

    31 July 2017 - 06:02 PM

A guitar on a list site, I can't name names can I?, but a guitar I emailed the seller about and he sent me photos and had a chat, sold to someone else for approx the list price of $3500. I didn't want it.

I saw it yesterday for sale again at $6000! It is definetely the same guitar as I have the serial number from earlier emails!

A little bit cheeky, eh? (It will be interesting what happens next as it was for sale previously for a long, long while, but, you know....some people have the luck...)

  5. "You'll Never Walk Alone"

    26 July 2017 - 05:52 PM

I recorded 7 or 8 tracks with the Lowden O22 and I thought this came up well.

So my solo version of what I found out from Wiki is a 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein show tune from Carousel, I always thought it was written by Gerry of Pacemakers fame, but no.

Recorded with just the Neumann KM184 in front of me - run to A & H mixer and iMac:
