  1. Hey Ryan.... Congrats again on your LG1 purchase... great all around blues guitar. I have not replaced the tuners on my 1964 model. They are actually in pretty good condition and hold the tuning well. I would agree with Larry that if I were getting new ones, I would go for the Kluson Deluxe as I believe they are the same as the originals.
  2. Thanks to the OP and others who contributed to this thread. I just received a beauty of an SG in trade for a Vintage Yamaha. I went to check the serial number and was dismayed to find it did not register nor was mine like any other SG I was seeing. The one I have I was told was a 2009 Epiphone SG G400 Custom Shop Limited Edition in Silverburst. The serial number is 09041508738 and there was a "Inspection by QC" sticker and a "Made in China" sticker on the back of the headstock as well. When I got it all the plastic was still on the pickguard, backplate and even the pickup covers. It literally is in "New" condition. From the serial number explanation above I can figure out it was built in 2009 at the Quingdau facility in China? Here she is...... pretty sweet if you ask me!
  3. Great looking guitar Mr. N!!! I bet she sounds great. Hope your getting some nice blues licks out of it. As for strings, I tried a few different ones after getting my LG1 and have ended up right back where I always do.... Elixir Nano Phospher Bronze (12-53's). They sound great and last a very long time.
  4. I have a buddy that collects rifles... He has used Boiled Linseed oil for years on the stocks and they all look perfect to me. I have only put boiled linseed oil on my boards (and only once on my Taylor Ebony board as it just doesn't ever need it) but at least once or twice a year on my rosewood boards. Never been a problem and the wood grain always "POPS" when I am done. I guess I am in the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" crowd here with the boiled linseed oil.
  5. Hi Karen.... I am a hockey/lacrosse dad.... 4 kids (3 boys and my daughter). Ice it down!!! 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off and repeat as much as possible and the swelling should subside. Use a big baggie and try and crush the ice so you can wrap it around your wrist. After a couple days, if it still hurts try warm compress with a heating pad. Ice only works before it swells too bad, after that heat seems to work better. Good luck!
  6. I also had measured the pins in my AJ with a caliper before contacting Bob and he said the same thing. I knew they were bigger than my 1A Taylor pins so I went with my gut and ordered the 2A's from Bob anyway. Like I said above, they were a perfect fit. Here is a shot to give you an idea. Also, bone pins can be sanded ever so slightly to make them fit if they are a tad to big, but I didn't need to sand at all.
  7. I swapped out the plastic pins on my AJ through Bob Colosi and got bone double inlay pins size 2A to replace them with. The AJ's come standard with bone nut and bone saddle so I now have the full bone compliment as well on the Advanced Jumbo. The pins from Bob at size 2A were a perfect fit.
