  1. For 1957. I guess first does it have a pick up? Cutaway or non cutaway? 16” wide or 17”? Bound headstock or no? ID is easier with pictures though.
  2. Ive owned quite a few Gibson Hollowbodies. Citations, Le Grandes, Western Sky 400 , many more. they are pretty Cool guitars.
  3. In the 90s these came out. Not a bad guitar. I was not sure of the direction Gibson was going with these though. AJs fit the bill for decent guitars. And these are not of the same tone. It may have to do with the scale length. From what I could hear. I think these were to steer folks away from D-28s
  4. That would be something I would place in the middle of the living room. 😀
  5. A Tele has its spot in music. But thsts all .
  6. You didnt tell them that the US made ones played like the Chinese copies did you? Even thats not worth a month off. 😀
  7. Makes you wonder if the finish on the guitar is that way as well. 😀 I never did notice the film aspect on those either.
  8. Something very similar. It is for acrylic. my harp guitar tailpiece crumbled beyond saving. I made a tailpiece out of deep epoxy with dye. I couldnt of asked for a better result. And strong. Enough to hold 16 strings
  9. I have a glue that stops the gassing off. Is also fuses the crumbled pickguard together. but if these to far gone. There are other guards out there with bracket mounts.
  10. The parts are gassing off. The celluloid is deteriorating , it will cause slot of damage to other parts of the guitar , like binding, the overall finish, all the metal parts So best to take out of the case and remove the metal clasps and screws The pick guard is held on by two nails at the finger board and one resting at the tail piece. Lightly wiggle that away from the board. Put those oarts in s zip lock in another room.
  11. You should see if you can take a model mold casting from the attachment prior to putting back on. So s piece can be reproduced
  12. New guitars for some time now have been out of the equation. Ill buy a used one before buying new.

Go inside with a mirror check to see if the eyelets were bent or are they hanging straight down? The eyelets should be resting inside on the bridge plate. also as mentioned, if you went to the thicker string. It could be binding at the nut.
  14. QA out the window as long as the sound good. 😀
  15. It does on a Banner. Looks fine to me. Even if you scratch it. It will blend into the theme 😀 to be honest. I tried s couple New Banner J45s. I liked those way better than the SJ200 Gibson VOS. Im pretty sure you will enjoy that J45. congrats
