Quick question before I take the Bird in for a setup.....
26 May 2013 - 10:36 PM
hey guys, I just wanted to ask what strings I should go with for the setup? I have been looking all day and to be honest it's really confusing. I will go with d'addario but I wanted to know what gauge to use. Right now I have mediums on it but it seems like everybody else uses lights. Is there a major reason why?? It's even on the Gibson site that they use lights. Just curious boys and girls..... -
I bought one of these on ebay.....

hey guys, I bought one of these interesting magazines online tonight. I had been keeping a close eye out for cheaper ones because some are listed for way too much money. One came up tonight and as soon as it did, I asked the guy if he would go lower and he did. The problems are.....it's 99% written in Japanese and it will probably take a month to get.
It's actually coming from Japan.
I couldn't resist though, it has almost 135 pages of beautiful color photos of vintage Gibsons
.
Gibson seriously has to put out a new book with full color pages. I bought a book about the history of Martin guitars a few years ago and it really is an amazing book with tons of great photos(all color).

Just a quick question before I take the Hummingbird in....
24 May 2013 - 05:02 PM
Hey guys, I just wanted some opinions on whether or not to get a compensated saddle when I take my Hummingbird in on Monday. I talked to the guy I have been going to for setups and unfortunately hes working on Monday. Sucks for him but it's good for me. Two of my three other guitars have the compensated saddles but in all honesty I don't really notice anything different. Any thought??? -
Another String question
19 May 2013 - 12:58 PM
hey guys, I had posted last week about my d-35 getting a set-up and sounding awesome and wanting to get my hummingbird a set-up soon. Before I do that I just wanted to change the strings and see if they are dead. It's been 3 months or more since I changed them and the ones that are on it now are the d'addario coated phosphor bronze 13-56. I have read that people leave these on for a year and they claim they still sound great and like new, which I really don't buy but with these types of strings how long would you keep them on before changing?? I still intend on getting the set-up in a week or so but I just wanted to see if it was possibly just the strings. Let me know your thoughts and ideas boys&girls......... -
I think my Bird needs a setup.....
10 May 2013 - 10:27 PM
Hey guys, nothing major but I had my Martin setup today for the first time since I got her back in 2008. I played the hell out of her for a few years then my slight obsession of Doves and Hummingbirds took over. When that happened the D-35 took a back seat and rarely got played but, recently I began to appreciate how awesome a guitar she is(sorry). So I took her today and got a setup done for the first time and holy hell she sounds friggin awesome!! I switched back and forth a few times between my gals and realized my Hummingbird definitely needs a setup. I was told when I got her a year or so ago she had one but I'm not so sure I believe that now. It sounds good but, it could sound waaaayyy better. The strings are fairly new but maybe I need to switch up the strings or something.
