  1. This was just all I'd been concerned before. I found, through learning from web resources and guys here, the very first decade is the answer just as Em7 said. So I just got a Banner J-45 the other day after more than 3 years'learning and searching, fell in love with it.
  2. Thank you very much.

  3. Dai, once again, it's impossible to evaluate the guitar properly without an inspection. Gibson was not always consistent in using an FON in the early years after WW2. It could well be a late 1947, since the block logo appeared sometime late in that year. By 1948, I think most had an FON.

  5. Thank you anyway !

Yes, as you say, it seems 500-1000 higher than the other possible choice I can find on Fred Oster's web store. But the latter has no sound description (not large ones have, so I roughly deduce it's probably an average one. Now what I can mainly use is deduce, since it has to be a remote purchase.)

    Best Regards

  6. Dai, there is not rational way I can evaluate this guitar for you. When it comes to vintage guitars, everyone has different expectations. The fact that is was owned by a performing musician is irrelevant to me. All I care about is whether it is a good instrument in good condition. The price is high for the vintage. You are asking people to give opinions on vintage instruments they do not know.

  8. I sent the sound clip to your email, please receive it..

    Thank you.

  9. rambler is another person I would ask. He buys and sells vintage often, and is knowledgeable and helpful. Good taste, too.

  10. gotomsdos, the 1952 I found on gbase is being offered by Jim's. Is that the one? It looks nice, but I'm no expert on vintage pricing. I didn't see a soundclip anywhere. You might ask rar or tbiii what they think. They (especially tpbiii) know a lot more about vintage instruments than I, and both seem like very helpful guys. Sorry I can't help more. Let us know how you fare! ...

  11. Goto, I'd be happy to listen to the clip, but there was no link to it in your message. You can send the link to blockhouse@roadrunner.com

    Cheers, Rambler

  12. HI, !

    Long time no see..

I'm considering internet buying a good vintage J-45, There is a 1952 J-45 on Gbase, its description says almost no repairs and alteration, most original, and amazing sounding. The seller sent me a sound clip. Would you please look at and listen to it, give me your review of it ?

    If you're free,

    Here is its link:
