The Gibson USA Les Paul cases currently shipping with the guitars are Canadian made, no dust cover, white interior, Made In Canada tag on string pocket cover, no combination lock, "hasp" latch for padlock, silk sreened branding on case cover.
Not a bad case. But, everything changes and what we used to be able to buy changes as well. Different manufacturers or suppliers, lowering costs, etc.. Are the guitars themselves of the same quality as what they formerly were?
The new cases are what they are; and the old cases are what they were. Quality, preferences, value, it all changes. Sometimes things improve, usually they don't.
