  1. I think it's been going downhill for a few years due to lack of demand. In 2014, I wanted a Mandolin F5 and had to order it. In 2014, I bought an L5P. It was one of 10 they built that year.
  2. If you have a DIF, you probably don't look at or yearn for a Dove.
  3. I think they look plain.
  4. This Regal came with the covers. The tuner buttons were plastic with what looks like aluminum paint. Two were missing and the others looked ragged. I found these new kluson that matched.
  5. That’s the one I sold this past week on eBay or I would had.
  6. I like the tone of a good mahogany top. I have two and just sold another one last week. The Martin 000 15 CS was real nice looking and sounding but like Johnson, I didn't care for the neck. The other two are Gibson's. One is a '42 LG1 like Tom B and John T have. The other is a newer L00 Genuine Mahogany (actual model name). If you were a righty, I'd loan you one.
  7. Meatal buttons just do look right on some guitars ('41 Regal). I replaced some Grovers on an L00 with a set of Golden Age. I heard some people knock them but I haven't had any issues and like the look. I didn't worry about the old screw holes peeking out.
  8. EBay has a few. Here's one with a Seymour Duncan add on. Genuine 1951 Gibson L-7C Archtop | eBay
  9. Update - it is a cutaway and looks more like an L7C with an add on pickup. I can't find anywhere they offered an electric version of the guitar.
  10. Like Sarge, I think that's an acoustic non cutaway with the pickguard/pickups added. Like KS, I think it may be a 17" L7. I thought the picture I posted above was an L4 but it's an L7 with the bound headstock. The L4 below doesn't have the bound headstock.
  11. Except for the tailpiece and the add-on pickguard with the pickup as mentioned by Sarge, it looks like a Super 300 Another more likely guitar is an L4. Here's one shown on eBay. Gibson L-7 1948 Acoustic Guitar | eBay (bing.com)
  12. You still sound good to me. Guitar sounds good too. I like low action. I usually shoot for .012" thru .022" at the first, .040" thru .060" at the 12th, Neck relief .000"-.003" plus make sure there are no high frets. A couple of the times that I've missed my mark and got too low, it worked very well. That doesn't happen all the time. I've come to like the Custom Light gage strings. Music Villa setup the J45 I recently bought from them based on my preference and it feels and plays great. They put on D'Addario XS Phosphor Bronze Coated. I was so impressed with them, I bought some more and put a set on the '52 J45 and '68 J50 so I can compare them. TBD. I also have to measure everything to see why the new J45 feels so much better than the others.
  13. Most consignment shops with national exposure get 25% eBay rates are below but the gimmick is the buyer pays the cost of item + taxes + shipping then eBay uses that as the total amount to charge a fee. The good thing is after the buyer pays a large shipping fee, eBay gets you a 50-75% discount that you get to keep. 6.35% on total amount of the sale up to $7,500 calculated per item 2.35% on the portion of the sale over $7,500
