  1. I met John through this forum back in the day. We spoke a few times on the phone. I recall he had a few Epiphone Texans that I lusted after but never pulled the trigger. Glad to here he is doing well Rich
  2. Neil Just came across this old thread. My J55 is EA 5506. There’s one in Japan for sale which is EA 5500. I’ll try to post a picture. Rich
  3. As luck would have it, I have a Cali case I bought years ago on this forum, I think. Thanks very much for this info. You guys are great. I plan to do the deal Thursday. Rich
  4. Here’s pictures from a reverb listing. There is an email from Gibson that says it is a 2008 J45TV. Also, in 2007 they were Sitka Topped so 2008 could be too. https://reverb.com/item/63463637-gibson-j-45-true-vintage-2008-vintage-sunburst Rich.
  5. I’m looking at what is claimed to be a 2008 J45 TV. The label does not have the TV on it. The binding is white, not yellow. The spec from Gibson says Sitka top. Should be red spruce. Tuners are not three on a plate. Yet the head stock has the banner label. were the early ones different or is this some sort of fake? The seller has an email from Gibson saying it is a 2008 TV thoughts?
  6. First, let me say you can trust John, (tvguit). Second, that's a neat guitar. I like the way you can see the outline of the original Bat Wing bridge. I have a 1939 J55. The 1939 models were unique in that they had the stair step headstock and the mustache bridge. It was also the year the fewest were made, only 55. I say this to help you with a ballpark idea of value. Mine has been refinished at some time in its life, but otherwise is original. Some people say that kills half the price. Having said that, this one was appraised a while ago by Mandolin Bros at between $7K and $10k. I bought it from a private individual for more than 7, but a lot less than 10. It plays and sounds great. I just came home from three hours of jamming with it. That guitar deserves to be saved. Obviously there is going to be $$ involved in getting back to playable condition with the correct bridge and that should be done by an expert. How much work it needs will affect the price you can get. Thanks for bringing that out to the light of day. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing. Rich
  7. Really? Should be inside where the neck joins the body. Visible through the sound hole.
  8. My SCSJ is stamped only on the neck block and not the head stock. It is also a 2012. I'm not sure if that's true for all 2012 guitars or not. I think my AJ is. 2012 also and it is stamped on the back of the headstock, but it may be a 2011. I'll check. BTW, Beautiful guitar. Congrats! Rich
  9. Deleted. Tried to post a link, but it didn't work Rich
