  1. Allman Brothers Band's Dickey Betts Dead at 80 (rollingstone.com) I learned so much from listening to this guy. RIP Dickey
  2. Gibson -> Hammer! Fender -> Not a Hammer!
  3. yes! THIS! In the middle position this will "blend" both pickups with the volume (and tone overall tone setting) favoring the pickup that is not being turned down. Before doing anything just test each volume pot separately (Neck/Bridge) with the switch either on Neck OR on Bridge setting. Never test in the middle, it will do exactly what you are describing and that is exactly correct and how they are wired.
  4. Sparky, -- you are a hoot! Congrats Doug on yet another Tele entering the herd.
  5. welcome back Duane, Sorry about your dad. First year is a tuff one to get past, we never get over it, but we do get through it.
  6. ouh!! found it incase anyone is interested.
  7. Hi everyone, There is a thread posted here some time ago regarding fixing a curling pickguard. It had a really good write up on making sure the pickguard stayed flat via heating the material and putting it between two large books. I'm fixing my J200 and before I reapply the adhesive and put it back on, I plan to do this heating and book trick. I'd like to review that, but I can't find the post. Anyone have a linky?
  8. can't name a single Taylor Swift song. you don't have grandkids do you?? ah well then perhaps just "Shake it off..."
  9. Those little chipped areas where the slots are, he may be right. No expert here, but I am not at all sure that Corian would erode and chip away like that.
  10. looks like someone took a hammer or soldering iron to the fret edges! LOL! when a file was all they needed... That's a little on the bit too much side..
  11. Thank you sir, may I have another? hard for a dinosaur like me hard not to like!
  12. hang your head in shame, you must a done something sparky you know what a trouble maker you can be.... LOL! JK..
  13. My hunch is cock pit error. Letting some people loose on a guitar with tools can sometimes lead to unpleasant results.
  14. would not really bug me if the price reflected that and of course, done right it does look like the repair job was solid I think the ballpark on repaired neck is 50% from what it would be without the break not sure if that's fair but that seems to be the going rate.
