I agree with you. The T-Tops don't even compare to Classic 57s. I have a 2009 and a 2011 and they both sound better than the newest examples I tried out. Don't know why Gibson would make that change, but IMO it was a bad idea.

I just tried out a new 2023 ES-335 standard issue. I can say is that it doesn't even compare to to my 2009 335, in either sound or workmanship.

I put Gibson pointers on an Inspired by 335. They fit perfectly.

That’s incorrect. The new inspired by line uses standard CTS pots, same as Gibson.

What does everyone think of the new Calibrated T-Type pickups compared to the Classic 57s? I love the Classic 57s on my 2008 335 and have been thinking of getting another. Not sure about the Calibrated T-Types, and have herd very mixed reviews.

I've actually done this successfully. Here's what I did: 1. Gently remove old label with a pair of tweezers working from the outside in. 2. Once label is removed make sure there's no residue where the label was. If there is, gently clean it with a very small piece of super fine steel wool. 3. Place the label upside down on a piece of paper. Use a glue stick liberally on the back of the label being sure the edges are completely covered. 4. Carefully place the label back in place with a pair of tweezers. 5. Work from the center out in a circular motion with a q-tip pressing the label down. Be sure to press the edges thoroughly. 6. Be sure to wipe off any extra glue with a q-tip if it should squeeze over the edges. It shouldn't though, that's the advantage of using a glue stick. Also be sure to wipe the f-hole edges with a tissue should any glue comes in contact with it. I did this on an ES-175 about 10 years ago and it's still going strong. Good luck!

First off, the seller probably had no idea the pickups had been swapped out. If he offered you a full refund after 3 years and you didn't take it, then you can't really complain. The seller sounds straight up to me. I seriously doubt you'd make any substantial profit on it, but if you think you can, put it back together as is and list it; noting the pickup inconsistencies. I would have taken the full refund, but that's just me. If you're that bothered by the pickups and really want to keep the guitar, then buy the dream pickups of your choice. I've "tested" the effect of adjusting the stop tailpiece height. The closer to the body (steep angle) the stiffer the feel and harder the string tension. The farther from the body (shallow angle) the looser the feel and softer the string tension. There's no right or wrong, it's a preferential thing. Top wrapping seems a bit extreme though, I wouldn't recommend that.

The stock tuners are 18:1 Nickel Grovers. They are good, solid reliable tuners that should last another 20 years if not more. I’d do an exact replacement.
