  1. I was born in 1948 and remember the Coronation. Parties and games in the large cricket field at the back of our house. She is not gone, she is, and always will be in our hearts and memories. I pledged my allegiance to Her when I joined the police service; that allegiance will never go away.
  2. Many guitar players are classic car fans too. Me too.
  3. I don't have these guitars anymore. The 2006 and 2007 issues were numbered differently.
  4. I have the '57 SJ200 AN on order.
  5. Yes so I am told. But after a few cleans with Gibson polish it does not show too much, just when the light catches it, and you need to be close. Great sounding guitar, lots of clear tones.
  6. Gibson did the Roy Orbison siggy ES335 in '06 and all 70 (I think) sold out in 2 hours. In '07 they released a further 200. Maybe they just test the water to see if there is a chance for more quick income.
  7. Many thanks. Yes the number is inside neck block too.
  8. I have just bought what is advertised as a Custom Shop acoustic guitar from the Custom Historic Collection. It is the 1952 J-185 VSB reissue. I do not see this clearly mentioned in the dating FAQ on the Gibson web site so wondering if anyone can assist please. There is no serial number stamped at the back of the headstock. See attached for details. Thanks.
  9. I have been told this is how Gibson create their vintage reissue series. All the pics online I have seen of this have the same finish.
  10. Has anyone bought one or had a good look at one. I got one a few days ago my mail order and the finish looks like it has been rubbed over with a mild abrasive. Light scuff marks all over the body and a matt finish. I looked at the pics of the one on Thomann web site and that appears to have the same finish. Is this correct or just poor workmanship? See all pics here and several show the marks: https://www.thomann.de/gb/gibson_1952_j_185_vintage_sunburst.htm
  11. If it is the same as the photo then you just slide out the small panel to reveal two small tabs that you pull inwards to each other and the battery compartment will slide out. Bob
  12. Many swear by Tonerite which does exactly what you describe. Bob
  13. I sent my original saddle to my tech and he said it was poorly made. The width varied along its length, and was not a good fit. I had a decent bone one made and slightly higher. Now it is great with good volume. I also read somewhere that increasing the break angle can enhance the lower end. Bob
  14. No cord or warranty document with my red Dwight Trash Elitist. I contacted the dealer and Gibson Service who are sending them to me. Seems to be a trend here that is not being addressed. Bob
