  1. I skipped the volume wheel version in my Pure Mini. With the Pure XLR preamp the extra volume control is sort of worthless. Good luck, I think you will enjoy it.

  2. Unfortunately, I have seen new J-200's with poorly set necks in dealer stock in the past. The saddle was so low there wasn't any break over angle on the saddle when the action was reasonable. This is made even worse when the bridge is the four pearl ribbon variety which pushes the bridge pins away from the saddle. I played a Pete Townshed signature J-200 that was like this and it sounded like total crap. The break over angle of string over the saddle is critical for driving string energy into the top. Couldn't you just return the guitar to the dealer for another example? Hopefully, Gibson will treat you right.
  3. Beautiful!!!! More pics please!!!!!
  4. I recently acquired a 1957 Gibson LG1. The original tuners (at least I believe they are original) on it are functional but stiff. The buttons have shrunk and weathered to the point of coming apart soon and also make it more difficult to turn. I realize I could replace the buttons but I am seriously considering replacing the tuners to provide a more user friendly experience while also preserving the original tuners and buttons. Is a complete tuner replacement with replicas a reasonable approach to this instrument or should I just replace the buttons. Please note that this guitar will be played and not sit in the case. Secondly, in choosing a replacement. Is there any difference between the replicas Elderly sells and the ones Stewmac sells? They seem just a little different? Is one better than the other? Surely, someone has done this and has experience with it. Thanks in advance. Tuners to choose from: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Guitar,_solid_peghead_tuners/Vintage-style_3-on-Plate_Tuners.html or http://www.elderly.com/accessories/items/WD90NPP.htm Here are the current tuners.
  5. I have a J-200 that turns 20 years old this Saturday. It doesn't have a single finish check on it.
